  Representing one of the brand’s male fragrance classics, England’s Goalkeeper Joe Hart, Brazilian National Team Captain Thiago Silva and Germany’s Footballer of the Year 2012 Marco Reus have been selected as global ambassadors of the campaign.

What’s your definition of success? When we win one of our football matches, naturally it’s a success for me and for the team. And when I score a goal, naturally that’s also a great feeling. In terms of my life outside of football, I try to take the opportunity every day to improve myself and learn something new. What has your biggest success been, beyond your career in football?   The most important thing for me is that I’ve stayed healthy through the years. Footballers are especially prone to getting injured. Overall I can say that I’m very happy with my life at the moment. In addition to my health, positive thinking is very important to me. I’m a very positive person. Which attributes are important for being successful in life? There are quite a few. Every day I think you need to commit to your own personal development and to making improvements in yourself and your life. If you really work on yourself and believe in yourself then you’ll automatically be happy. For me it’s important to be in a good mood and enjoy life. I’m a very positive person and try to use every day to improve myself in some way.   Who has inspired you most in your life? My family, of course. My dad has been an especially important person in my life. He always used to go to my games with me. He’s someone I could always go to to talk about anything. That’s also true of my mum. That’s why they are the two most important people for me. Do you have any rituals you do in the dressing room before a game? Yes. I like to listen to music before each game. I love music and always listen to it when we’re going to a match or coming out of the dressing room to do warm ups. On the one hand I use it to fire myself up, but I also use it to relax, so I can focus and prepare for the coming match. Other than that I always put on my right shoe and my right shin-guard first and always walk onto the field with my right foot. Has how your parents raised you played a role in your success? Yes, certainly. My parents did a great job raising me and I owe them a lot. The most important thing for me is honesty and having the desire to try something new every day and to keep growing. My parents were very good role models in that regard and I learned a lot from them. What are the three most important things in life for you? I don’t think I would reduce it to just three things. Naturally my family is the most important thing. My family’s health is also very important. My own health is also important, but it’s not at the top of the list. Life should be fun. I’m a very positive person, someone who has a lot of fun every day and who is open to new things. Which values or attributes do you think a sportsperson needs in order to be successful? Ambition, of course. The ambition to become better every single day and to always give everything you’ve got. As a sportsperson you usually only get one career, which might only last for a few years. That’s why you should also have the self-confidence and positive outlook to believe you can achieve whatever you want. Do you have any advice that you’d like to share with others? I can only say once again that, regardless of how it’s going at the moment, it’s important to remain positive and never give up. You should always believe in yourself and be open to the people you meet. If you do, life will be more rewarding. What does being part of the national team mean for you? Naturally it’s an indescribable feeling to wear the national team uniform and play for your country. When you’re in a stadium playing for an entire nation, then of course you’re going to be excited and nervous. The goal you’ve set for yourself is very high and you want to do your best. What’s the best thing you ever learned from one of your coaches? A coach once said to me that I should always think positively. There are always times when things don’t go well. You have to just get over it and start again. As a footballer if you try something on the field that doesn’t work, you just have to get over that as well and look to what’s next. If you stay positive and work on yourself, then good things start to happen on the field automatically. Do you remember your first fragrance? I received my first fragrance as a birthday present from my parents. I don’t remember how old I was. But I do remember it being a refreshing scent. My birthday is in the summer, so it suited the time of year. What are your must-have personal care products in the dressing room? I use body lotions, since I have to make sure that my skin doesn’t dry out. Aside from that I use hair gel and cologne. Do you put on a fragrance both before and after a game? Not right before we go onto the field, but in the hotel, before we go to the stadium. After the game, when I’m heading home I also put some on. When you wear a fragrance, where do you spray it and why? I put it on three or four different spots, so that it’s evenly balanced. What is your favourite scent? I really like the smell of vanilla. In general, it’s important that things smell fresh. For example, if I go into a room and it smells fresh, then it makes me feel good and I’m full of energy. It makes me feel comfortable and at ease. Do you feel better prepared when you are well groomed? Yes, definitely. I never used to bother so much with personal care products, but that has changed. After I take a shower it’s especially important that I use skin care products and the like. It just makes me feel better. How long do you need in the bath in the morning? Not all that long. Maybe 10 or 15 minutes. But then I’m all set and can start my day. How would you describe your personal style? As in life in general, I’m open for new things. I try out new styles and use a range of products. Then I see if I like the way they make me feel. Do you have any special exercises that you do to stay fit? Yes, of course. Over the course of the year I have a lot of games and only a few breaks. I always have to be fit and ready. For example, I do a lot of yoga. What have you learned from your father that you’d like to pass on to your own children one day? A lot! As I’ve already mentioned, my family was always good at thinking positively and talking to each other. We always discussed whatever topics were important and never tried to avoid them. I think that’s very important and I’ll probably do the same with my own family one day. And what have you learned from your mother? I’d like to learn to cook from her. To quote the old saying: ‘Mum’s cooking tastes the best’. It’s true. I like to eat at my mother’s house and she likes to cook for me. She’s a really good-hearted person who always shows her love for me – and I’m very grateful for that. How much of an impact has your father had on your career? My father has had a major impact on my career. He always believed in me. My dad is my biggest critic and I think that will always be the case. After each game we analyse what went well and what didn’t. I never had the feeling I wouldn’t reach my goal of playing professionally – my dad always encouraged me. In terms of preparation, we always did a lot of one-on-one training together. We went running, for example. Of course you’re a bit annoyed at first if you always have to do a little more than everyone else. But ultimately I’m very grateful, since it’s really paid off for me. When you want to show your parents that you care how do you do it? I think giving them a small present on Father’s Day or Mother’s Day is a must. But it’s even more important to tell them you love them and, above all, that you’re thankful for all they’ve done for you. Have you ever bought a fragrance as a gift? Many times. For my parents and family of course – sometimes at Christmas or for birthdays or simply to say ‘thank you’. How do I choose a fragrance? I usually find something I like then think about whether the person in question would also like it.
