Hey. :) I was wondering if you could help me translate a sentence. I was taking this online test regarding the different tenses in Spanish and one sentence was 'El que quiera que venga conmigo' and I don't understand what it means at all. Something like 'he who wants comes with me'?
It means “anyone/body who wants, come with me” or “the one who wants, come with me”.What I think might be confusing here, and it’s understandable, is that the subject [el que quiera] is missing its nuclear part (normally a noun) and it goes straight to a relative phrase after that which is “que quiera” that is describing that missing subject. When I mean describing is that not everyone will “come with me” but only the ones who want to.
It could be “el (hombre o mujer) que quiera, que venga conmigo” for you to understand it better.
Also, for my taste, the phrase is missing a comma between que quiera and que venga:)
Also note that:
El = article / pronoun (this case) Él = he
Sorry if this was longer than you expected it to be haha hope it helped!
