tqqqqq what does fid mean?? Never had the courage to ask but I'm drinking in a dudes apartment and feel like baring my soul
Hope you're having a good time & stay safe nonnie <3 idk if I've ever explained it bc it's a bit of a deep cut
It comes from a made-up tone tag from dtblr4*, /fid which stands for feeding-into-delusion, although I think for my purposes, #fid could also be fun-in-delusion.
It's my shipping** tag, because that's always the charge you get hit with as an RPFer, and in some senses I think it's fair. If you want to have fun (w/ RPF), you do have to embrace Some level of irrationality or "delusion" & I think acknowledging that via my tag has made me feel more comfortable posting those things
* old critblr groupchat/terrorist organization
** "#femslash wins" is for femslash bc I <3 women
Contrapoints explaining will-to-power & that the powerless will identify with the powerful to vicariously experience it. It seems gauche to point out that this is stan culture in general when Natalie is talking about the more interesting & specific examples of things like Elon fanboys or Serial Killer Groupies, but I'll say it anyways.
god the fact that i'm not alone in seeing tommy's new brand as pathetic. like i felt that i was being mean about it somehow but
It's literally your god given right to be mean and critical and even a bitch about things. Like who is to say that the rest of us agreeing it's pathetic aren't also being mean about it? I don't know. But what I do know is that actively commodifying your own misery is not only cringe, but stupid. Have fun actively identifying with and thus worsening your depression for profit bro. Fucking idiot.
Live with palm trees but do not feel movie like since I’ve lived in a place with pine trees too /brag (though when you describe it like that maybe I’ve take both for granted)
I'm periodically re-discovering/re-remembering the fact that we're all human beings living in the context of having physical bodies located in specific times and places. Which sounds like a very banal observation, but it's so easy to forget and especially easy to ignore the implications of

I understand why ccs feel uncomfortable. Though I also think ccs should steer clear of fanfic then. There's no need to bring it up as a joke. Even if it's rational to feel weird about it, fans still work hard on that. I don't mind a comment every once in a while, but some ccs are always joking with others about using it as punishment or teasing fans about digging it up.
I would be interested though in the differing reaction of a cc who used to be deep in fandom as opposed to someone who never was (the average cc)
TBH I have no actual opinions bc I'm not thinking of any CC's or scenarios rn. There's a very good reason to bring it up derisively if you don't like fanfic about you as a CC though, and it's to disincentivize its creation. I don't necessarily Enjoy those types of comments (#rpfFan), but I feel like I can't really be annoyed personally bc it's like, yeah that's the self-rational thing for them to do to achieve their goal. I draw the line at public executions in the name of setting an example though.
I always think this type of take complaining about creators enjoying fanart but not fanfic misses the way writing FICTION about someone is inherently an invasive process.
Ultimately you are creating a version of that person or their "character" to puppet around; thus robbing them of an autonomy (or at the least creative control) that, being often *independent* online creators, they may have never even considered could be taken away from them.
You being a homestuck fan explains a lot about this blog (not shade btw)
I am what I am, and I am what I was. Which was a Vriska Stan if that helps clarify my taste in women or the transfem truthing I do
Homestuck was very formative to both my tastes AND my experiences online. It got me onto Tumblr, and introduced me to people who would introduce me to a lot of interesting concepts via Homestuck as a mechanism. Also it got me listening to Marina & the Diamonds and Lemon Demon because I saw people assigning songs to diff characters. It also gave me a taste for a large interconnected cast where anyone could be considered the main character.
Special Shoutout to Quadrants & Classpects, & shoutout my 2 major childhood hobbies: making Fan Signs for Trolls (were they symbols or signs? I forget the correct terminology) & trying to make elaborate graphs where all the trolls & kids were all shipped in a way that filled all 4 quadrants (no overlap/vacillation allowed)
