#styling characters

1. While preferring more practical fashion, with simple shirts and shorts or skirts, that goes downhill the moment we start talking accessories. Fukukitaru's tendencies to hoard and especially want for good luck tokens to always be with her would probably lead to her consistently wearing looots of accessories, from necklaces to bracelets to hairpins etc. While her clothing may be simple and not weight a lot, there will always be dangly things all over her. 2. Don't think the "practical" fashion just means "plain shirt and jeans" though. This simply means she prefers pieces with more ease to put and move around, that won't get stuck on places, but she still enjoys cute, customized pieces with lots of patterns, sewn things and, especially, colors. Usually goes for bright tones for good luck and fortune. 3. Talking about colors. Girl has no clue on how color harmony works. Send help. She just wears whatever she thinks looks nice without a care in the world for matching things, just putting pattern and color one after the other. Sometimes it might work out, another times a color will stick like a sore thumb and that's okay. 4. On the topic of the accessories, lots of symbols and signs associated with luck or general mysticism from basically any culture out there. Sevens, clovers, mushrooms, butterflies, horseshoes… 5. Same as above, cats. Maneki-neko's def warped her to be more than favorable towards cats and she loooves pieces with cats on them.

1. This one is sooo so fucking self indulgent man. Heavy, heeavy layering and accessorizing. "oh but Gimlet's casual outfit in canon doesn't-" shhhh. I know a layering freak when I see one. I mostly think coats, but I do think depending on the occasion or situation Gimlet would layer some skirts/literal scraps of fabrics over some nice pants. For the aesthetic. heh 2. So much silver accessories man. Hairpins. Chains. Iron spikes in collars or bracelets. Rings. Jacket clasps. Belts. But especially necklaces. On the same topic of layering as above, I just feel Gimlet is the type of guy who would put five necklaces or more on at a lazy day. More if it feels like it. Especially cross necklaces, mind you. Or literal rosaries if anything. On the topic of hairpins and chains too yeah guy who spends way too much time making his own additions to outfits he buys/thrifts because adding his own touch of artistry to a piece is meant to embolden the look and truly make it his own or whatever the hell he would say. 3. Gimlet is one of the many characters in the weird area of franchises of "I'm not saying they're not v-kei inspired, but I'm also not saying they are v-kei inspired". There are some very very clear elements of the general style on both of Gimlet's race costumes, however as is usual with a lot of umms characters those aesthetics kinda die the moment we start talking about their canon casual outfits. Gimlet's idea of finding his ideal self could also tie in nicely with that, so while I could try and refrain from going all in on that, I just kinda said fuck it and decided to indulge myself. It's my board and I get to choose the pictures sort of ordeal. My main statement piece for Gimlet would probably be ties, armcuffs or collars alongside the damn necklaces I won't lie. 4. Preference for broody, desaturated and dark colors. I'd say mostly dark blues, magentas, purples, black etc, but I also know he'd break all that with a contrasting piece, be it through yellow (my usual pick) or a brighter blue or just white. Rarely would go for a monochromatic look of all blue or purple and loves breaking it with matching different colors within a same palette. And silver. 5. Not included because I told myself I'd try to refrain from using any pictures with faces in it but yeah makeup loserrr. And I don't mean the good fancy makeup I mean the messy makeup that looks so bad it loops back into looking great. It suits him. Like think early 2000s nightclub bathroom makeup sorta ordeal. I don't think Gimlet ever put eyeliner or pencil properly its always kinda blurry and runny but he makes it work.
