Hey! I just saw your skincare post and what you said about rose water confused me a bit. I make my own Rose water (it's basically just dried roses originally meant for tea that I let soak in hot water before cooling it down to use as a toner) and I'm just wondering if it has the same bad qualities as store bought rose water? I mean, it soothes and moisturizes my skin, and has calmed my acne down a lot. But what you said has me worried that it's doing some unseen damage :o
Yep, it’s the same, as both the rose water you make and the rose water you can buy at the store come from rosa damascena (rose flower) (you can read a review about it here). The thing about rose water is, it does have some anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties, which is why you may have seen an improvement. However, as a fragrant plant, it also has a very high potential for irritation, which makes it not worth it because there are so many more ingredients that are anti-inflammatory with none of the irritation.Â
