They were in the library, trying to figure out a way to figure out a pratical way to bring Allison back, when Stiles screamed:âI found it!â
Scott ran at his desk, looking vaguely at the book. Lydia was smiling. Malia jumped on the chair and Liam looked at them, without understanding.
âWhatâs that?â asked Scott, looking at the bookâs picture.
âItâs the way. We have to figure out how many Argentâs died all over the world and how many are not reincarnated.â explained Stiles.
âBut Mary Jeanne came back after centuries!â said Scott, sitting on a free chair.
âAnd thatâs why we have to know all this things. Itâs not that simple, I know, but think: we could have our friend backâ said Lydia.
âAnd how we could possibly know how many of them was dead since the surname Argent started?â asked Mason.
âWe have to ask to Allisonâ dadâ said Stiles.
âHe will never help us. He has lost his daughter. His only daughter.â said Scott, with a point of desperation.
âMaybe we could ask Derek to came back and help us toâŚâ started Lydia, but Scott stopped her. âDerekâs far away from here. And knowing that people could reincarnate if theyâre not supernatural creatures will destroy him. He has lost his whole family.â
âAnd his pack.â added Stiles. He knew that Derek loved his pack as much as he loved his family.
âDoesnât he has a new pack?â asked Malia.
âWe were his pack, Malia.â replied Lydia, with a too harsh voice. She loved Malia, she was the one who was closer to be her new best friend, but she doesnât knew what they habe been throught in the third three years of school.
âHe choosen to go away from Beacon Hills. And same was for his sister.â said Scott, to close the discussion. Derek wasnât a possibility in their plan.
âWhat about Isaac?â asked Stiles.
âHeâs gone too. We canât tell him something like that. He loved Allison.â said Scott. Lydia looked at him, at his expression. She knew what Scott was thinking: he loved Allison too, and he loved her more than Isaac, he knew her well. He was the one who lost the most, in his mind. At the moment he wasnât thinking at the fact that even Stiles and her loved Allison too, that they were proposing all that possibilities just because they wanted her back just like him.
âWe have to found that names alone.â said Lydia.
âMy dad can help. I just need to make him understand why we need secret information.â
âMaybe even my parents canâ said Scott.
âYou donât have to say to your dad what youâve been throught in these years if youâre not ready. We can found a way out without him.â said Lydia, looking at Stiles. He wasnt paying attenction, looking at nothing under the table. She touched his shoulder when the other was talking about how to find names and photos of the dead Argents:â Whatâs wrong?â
âOh, nothing. I was just thinking.â he said, vaguely, shaking his head, like he was trying to let a thing out of his mind.
âOh, I saw. I want to know about what.â she said, with a soft smile and determination in her eyes.
âDonât think Iâm too self centred but I was thinking about my mom. You know, sheâs dead too.â he said, and Lydia saw the sufference in his eyes.
âYou donât have to tell me nothing, and youâre not self centred. She was your mother. Itâs normal you miss her more when we talk about dead people.â she said.
âI know. But itâs not just this.â he added.
âSo what youâre thinking about?â
âI just wanted to know if my mother was really just crazy or if she was a supernatural creature. Or if she was possessed by sonething.â
âStiles, you canât figure out. The only adults who was alive knowing about supernatural in Beacon Hills are dead.â
âI know, but maybe if they left something behind, I can know. I need to know, Lydia, do you understand?â asked, grabbing his head in the hands. He seemed on the point when people are too overwhelmed and they could rip they hair from the head. He was pressing so much that Lydia take his hands and pull them on his legs:â Hurting yourself doesnât delete the problem. Or solv it. We can find what you want to find, but now stay focused on Allison, ok? Weâre all here, and we can find a way to take our friend back. With her and the Argent we can figure out everything. And, in the free time, we can start searching something about you mother.â
âAnd pass the final exams.â added Stiles. âAnd go to the prom.â added Lydia. âDo you really want to go to prom?â asked Stiles, with shut eyes. Lydia smiled a bit:â I think we donât have to ruin our lives. Even if we want Allison back or we want to find who we really are.â âOr we want to fight the demons of our past.â said Stiles. âDemons?â asked, with a bit of fear in the voice, Liam. Lydia laughed:â We donât have to fight any demon Liam, tranquil.â The smile died on Stiles face. They have already fight a lot of demoniac presence and one of them was in him too, hurting his friends. Lydia looked at Mason. She saved him from a demon. They have fought so many bad things in theyâre short life. She thought about Kira, how she could became a dark spirit, if she wasnât under the ground, trying to return who she was before her powers switch on. And Jordan was dead inside, the Hound whoâs still keeping him alive to have a body. They were all demons. Scott, Malia, Liam, even her. She looked at Stiles. He wasnât a demon, and neither Mason. Probably Liam was thinking the same thing, âcause he looked at his best friend. âFor nowâ said Malia, with a strange expression on her face. âOk, stop talk about demon. We have to start our research about the dead Argent.â said Mason, his hands shaking a little. He was still shocked about what happened only a week ago. âIn the school library we surely canât find what we needâ said Stiles. âWe should go to the public library.â said Lydia. âAnd I could ask Deucalion if he knew something about this.â said Scott. âDo you really trust him?â asked Stiles. Scottâs eyes became red for a moment:â People change.â âTheo was the same, basic asshole all the time.â said Stiles. âTheo was a chimera.â replied Scott. âAnd he was alone.â added Liam. âEveryone of us need a pack. He only wanted a pack.â âAnd he had one.â said Stiles, and everyone seemed to listen to him. âHa has killed everyone of them.â âNot everyone.â said Mason, thinking about his boyfriend. âBut he tried.â said Lydia. âWeâre not talking about Theo. Heâs dead. His sister took him to hell with her. Weâre here for Allison, and Deucalion can help us. I donât fully trust him, but we need him and he helped us with Theo, so Iâm going to ask him everything he know.â Scott said, with his best alpha voice. âIâm going ask Braeden. Surely she will help us.â said Malia, stepping up from her seat. âTell her to call Deaton too. We need everyoneâs help, this time.â said Scott. âAs always.â tried to joke Liam, but his game was weak and Lydia done just an half smile. âMaybe Liam and Mason can go with usâ suggested Stiles. Lydia saw he was tired, too tired, nut she didnât said anything. âWhen I come back from Braedenâs house, I need your help in math. I donât care if supernatural things come out even from the books, I need to pass this exams and then stop going to school.â said Malia, when she was next to Lydia. âWeâre going to make you the second of the class.â joked Lydia. âSheâs the first and she want the title all for herself.â said Stiles, with a look full of pride in Lydiaâs direction. âJust make me pass. I donât care if Iâm the second or the worst. I only want to go out, graduate and then find a little work here that gives me so much time alone.â she said, before going away with a little growl. That was her way to say goodbye. âMason, your boyfriend can become invisible, right?â asked, desperately, Lydia, knowing that if Liam and him was going to go to the public library with her and Stiles they have to work together and probably speak about what happened. He nodded, and she released the breath. âWhy donât you ask him if he can help us, obviously in an illegal way, and use his power to steal the Argentâs documents in the city archive?â âProbably he could became a fondamental part of the progect. We donât need only documents but photographs, certificate of birth and death, to see gravestone and sometimes even to see the bodies.â said Stiles, telling ti the other in what kind of plan theyâre going to start. âWhy we should see the dead bodies?â âBecause we have to find out if they were supernatural creatures or not. Werewolves, when die, leave a shent even after centuries. And we can recognize if a banshee was dead because some crazy doctor has done a hole in her head, or even something worst. And, sometimes, when we think someoneâs dead, theyâre not. Maybe in the grave we could find someone else.â explained Lydia. âWe have to figure out if the dead one was possessed or a supernatural creature, even if he was just infected, because nobody of them can reincarnate.â added Stiles. âSo, weâre sure this can work?â asked Scott. Lydia nodded, full of pride. âOk, so Mason, go ask your fianceè if he wants to help us. Liam, go with Lydia and Stiles. I go at Deucalionâs place.â âWhat about the Talbots and their pack?â asked a voice from the bottom of the library. They all turned back. There was Chris Argent, his father next to him. âHow youâŚâ started Scott, but Chris stopped him. âI knew you were planning something. If the trouble donât come to you, you go for the trouble. Then asking the Sheriff to look in Stiles room wasnât that hard. I thought you were smarter. This is bigger than all of you. When do you all thought to tell me?â âWhen we will have something to tell you about.â replied Scott. âIâm not part of your pack, young wolf, and I usually kill people like you. But, luckily for you, Allison liked you all and I started to like you too, so donât use your alpha voice with me: it doesnât work.â replied Chris, harshly. âThis involves my family and our honor. I canât let a couple of guys ruin all Iâve done.â added his father. âYou donât care about Allison, neither about all the rest of your family. You care only about your honor. And you disgust me. We loved Allison, we really loved her. We were her family when you were all against her, when she were scared. And now we want her back, and we found a way. And you should help us if you ever really cared about your family.â said Lydia, jumping up from her chair. Then she stood here, for a moment, without breath. She said what she alway wanted to say and she were proud. But Chris eyes were too much to stand. So she went back to sit. She seemed on the edge of a panic attack. And them she looked at Stiles hazel eyes. His look were focused on her and she suddenly felt better. âSo, whatâs that way?â asked Chris. After a few hours, Stiles was sitting next to Lydia in her living room. He was looking an old movie and she was looking at him. She felt proud about what theyâve done some hours before with Chris, she was proud about the way Stiles has hold her hand when they gone out of the library. So she was looking at him and she knew, with all of herself, that she was trudly, deeply in love with him. He seemed to know what she was thinking âcause he smiled and took her hand again.
