@stxrmcatcherâ [kind of planned starter? kind of?]
Thereâs always a day, at some point, on which Jay wakes up feeling not so well. Sometimes itâs just fleeting melancholy, some other times itâs much worse, but itâs mostly just a nagging feeling that goes mostly ignored thanks to a resting bitch face that keeps everything hidden. And this morning, waking up huddled up against Spark, forehead against his shoulder blades and an arm around his waist...Â
He feels it squeeze in his chest and climb up his throat. Says nothing about it when they get breakfast. Not even the morning jog and the shower brought his mood back in the neutral zone.Â
Heâs undeserving of this. Heâs got secrets, so many of them, and yet Spark puts his trust in him like itâs the most natural thing to do. Heâs not even close to being in the same league as his partner. A ray of sunshine deserves better than a criminal riddled with unaddressed trauma and with so many skeletons in the closet that the door looks ready to bust. Someone whoâs love language is stunted at best, because he feels it... differently.Â
Thereâs only one thing he can do about all that, and the thought of coming clean about all of it is terrifying. Many people would run off at the first sentence, even. Others would be mad that heâs been hiding things for so long.Â
He owes Spark that much. The manâs been a trooper already when they breached the whole âso youâre Team Aqua, rightâ case. Itâs more than Jay deserves.Â
Looking up from his coffee to Spark, Jay pauses as he watches the other putting clean dishes away. Nibbles on the inside of his lower lip. Breathes in.
âHey, babe, thereâs uh. I.â Wow. Shit start. Jay looks at the wall for a bit to pause and steel himself. âDo you mind if. We uh. Sit on the couch? I. Maybe? have another heart-to-heart? Like. Yâknow. When we talked âboutââ He vaguely gestures. Yeah, just like that whole Aqua conversation.Â
