I'd like to address some drama that has been going on in the Freddy-verse. Specifically concerning certain artists and certain role players that will not be named in this post. These kind of situations happen, especially in communities that are very fan driven and don't have very clearly spelled out canon. Some artists are going to be more successful than others and ultimately those artists head canons might be taken as perceived gospel over certain other head canons. I'm here to tell you that there's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing wrong with conforming. There's also nothing wrong with being nonconformist within the fandom. The thing about being a role player is that it can be a little harder to find people to role-play with, when you go against the grain, or don't follow the go to canon of the fandom. So sometimes some players can get discouraged and will openly and viably defy certain artists or certain canons. And when those criticisms or that defiance gets back to the artist sometimes the artist or writer in question will take offense and there's nothing absolutely nothing wrong with this. However ideally both parties should remain silent if they wish to avoid the drama. What most role players should do is, if they're not interested in a specific type of will play or setting or head canon; they should advertise that little bit and not comment on why they don't. Just a simple declaration of, "I am not interested." This next bit goes to those artists that find themselves being very successful within their given fandoms. Do not reply to criticisms, do not reply to hate, and do not reply to bullshit. There will always be hatred in the face of wild success. You cannot stop that. Sometimes what you perceive as hatred or criticism may just be a general declaration of "hey I don't enjoy your work." You can't please everyone and there's nothing wrong with somebody for not enjoying your work. Just move on. Ignore it all and keep on being awesome.
