My relationships are so much healthier since I stopped having this expectation. Not in a cynical "everyone will leave and betray you" way but "quality time with people is limited" way. It helped me to really appreciate the important people in my life and put more effort into my social relationships. It also helped me to let go of people because it might suck but it's a normal part of life.
