honestly, the way you bash dark academia is so annoying. like yes, ofc it isn't perfect, but you're certainly not helping anything if you demonize it. there actually are blogs that are trying their best to include different views and think critically, but apparently you love to ignore that. there are great posts made by jewish bloggers about antisemitism in classical literature & about how to deal with that, for example. if u cared so much, u could also boost those voices, u know?
may i ask where iām demonizing dark academia, anon? iāve stated multiple times that i get why people like it. (hell, iām braving a black turtleneck and plaid pants in this equatorial temperature because i like it). all iām asking for those who are in the DA community is to think critically of their glorification of that aesthetic and the concept of western academia. of course that there are blogs doing so - but the GENERAL culture of DA? this kind of critical thinking is not widespread.
i try my best to boost those voices, but arguably the field that iām most familiar with is the postcolonial type of criticism (as i was born & grew up in a previously colonized country) - and so sometimes i feel like itās not my place. but i recognize that itās not the case - iām just boosting their voices! - so i will try, in all honesty, to boost more marginalized voices that arenāt related to my own experience.
thanks for taking the time to write this, anyhow. š
