Study/productivity tips that help me (and that hopefully will help you too)
Ok, so here are some study tips that have been helping me out a lot this year since I’ve been swamped with schoolwork due to it being my Junior year in highschool.
#1 Planning and setting up a timetable of what you are going to study or what homework you are going to do.
I usually don’t follow my timetable exactly time wise because sometimes I tend to under or overestimate the amount of time an assignment will take but it usually helps me to have a guideline of what I have to get done and how long it should approximately take me to complete.
#2 Having a clean desk or work area that isn’t filled with clutter or junk.
When my desk is messy and cluttered I usually won’t even work at it and instead do my homework in my bed or downstairs in the kitchen. These two places in my house are not optimal for my productivity and it takes me longer to finish homework in these locations so having my desk clean to work at helps a lot.
#3 Go to the library or a coffee shop.
I live in a suburb of a pretty large college town so there are lots of very cute coffee shops with comfy chairs, good study vibes and sometimes some pretty good eye candy ;) If I don’t feel like spending $5 on a coffee though I go to my town’s local library which has great views of the riverbank and woods surrounding it, very quiet atmosphere (obviously), and free wifi (who could forget that!)
#4 Make good use of your time.
So this one seems like a no brainer, right? I didn’t start taking full advantage of my time though until this year. Try to get all or most of your homework done during school, do it during that one blow-off class you have or during lunch. You don’t think that extra 45 minutes will help but it does and you will be thanking yourself when you get to go to sleep an hour earlier than usual because you made better use of your time during school.
#5 USE FLASHCARDS
I know that flashcards are probably a studying method you have already heard of before but they are soooo useful and literally are one of the best study methods out there. I like to use the app Quizlet which lets you make flashcards and then you get to play games with them which really helps me.
That’s it for my study tips! I hope that at least one of these helps one of you struggling students like me out there.
