Molloy Insider Program Student Spotlight: Melissa Guida
Melissa Guida is a senior business student at Molloy and is heavily involved on campus. As a Molloy Student Government Coordinator, Resident Assistant, and Social Media Ambassador, Mel actively works towards improving the Molloy community.
Starting Monday, February 27th, prospectives students will have the opportunity to chat with Mel, and students like her, as a part of the Molloy Insider Program.
What is the Molloy Insider Program? I interviewed Mel to find out.
On the program
“The Molloy Insider Program is this wonderful opportunity where incoming students have a chance to talk to current students and campus leaders via text message. This gives students the privacy to ask the tough questions like “Are the professors really good?” or “What is the night life like?”. The anonymity is the best part, and you don’t have to worry if you’re shy because it is over text.”
On choosing Molloy
“I chose Molloy because I knew I wanted a tight-knit community. I went to a small high school and wanted something similar. Once I came here and met the students and teachers, I knew that I had found what I was looking for.”
On her memories at Molloy
“My number one, best memory has to be meeting my best friend Brenna. We were wearing the same cute watch at Freshmen Orientation, so we started talking. We have been best friends ever since and will be graduating together in May.”
“I have made so many great memories because of this place [Molloy], from going to Italy and Germany on global trips...
“...to experiencing a South Asian Cultural Exchange Formal...”
“...to ringing the bell at the New York Stock Exchange...”
“...and a bunch of awesome internships. It has definitely been an interesting and eventful ride.”
On her career
“I am currently working as a Community Event Coordinator at Smile Farms, Inc. I have interned at a bunch of different places, like Nestle, Canon, 1-800 Flowers, and they have all taught me a lot. Molloy definitely prepared me and helped me get my start.”
On advice for freshmen
“Some of the best advice I ever got was, “Bloom where you are planted.” I heard this from a speaker at a Morgan Stanley event. No matter what situation you find yourself in, it is your reality for that moment. So don’t focus on what went wrong, or where you wish you were, or even where you want to be. Be the best you can be in that role.”
“Also, make the most out of every opportunity. Never go home early from school, from an event, or from work. Never be in a rush, just enjoy where you are in that moment.”
Prospective students will be able to hear more about Mel’s story, and from many other great students, by signing up for the Molloy Insider Program.
