Bald wieder Gesund?
Finally went to the doctor today, on the second attempt. The first clinic I went to told me that I would have to pay 200 euros upfront to see some sort of specialized doctor. I was able to get a recommendation from them on how to find a normal doctor to go to, however, and eventually ended up at a normal doctor's office.Â
The whole experience was quite interesting, compared to going to see a doctor in the states. I walked in and gave my insurance card to the receptionist, who asked no questions about my symptoms or anything else, she simply copied my card and asked me to take a seat. There was one girl before me, so I had to wait roughly 5 minutes to be seen. The doctor then came out to get me, took me into his office and asked me what my symptoms were. I explained to him that I had been sick with some sort of cold for almost three weeks and it wasn't getting better. I showed him the medications that I had been taking and he said that an antibiotic would be the best option if I want to get better. He then listened to me breath before writing me a prescription. I was in and out of there in no time! On my way out of the office, I copied what every other person who had left had done, and said "wiedersehen" loud enough so that the receptionist could hear. I was answered with by a chorus of "wiedersehen"s. It made me feel so Viennese.Â
Of course, the "downside" of being on antibiotics is that I am not allowed to consume alcoholic beverages for the next week. I'm actually looking forward to this, honestly. Not only will I be saving money, I'll also have more time to study!Â
Tonight, after going to see an awesome flat just across the street from where I am living now, I was told that I would not be chosen because I am only looking to stay for 6 months, which is not long enough for them. I decided to head up to a friend's room upstairs, where a couple of friends were hanging out. They were planning on going out and so we started planing a drinking game. Of course, I had my 1,5 liter bottle of water with me and joined right in. Honestly, I had more fun drinking water than I would have had otherwise. Alcohol should not be consumed for the sole purpose of getting wasted (as my peers find to be cool), that's just not how it should be.
