going through my blog from the beginning and realizing that, a year later, sleep is still a thing that you don't do.
I KNOW ITS AWFUL :’/
❝ Sometimes you have to learn to forget about it. ❞
Marina and the Diamonds { meme }
The night cloaked Aang in a quiet darkness, his breathing just leveling out after being awoken suddenly from a bad dream. He thought the others were asleep, until Toph’s voice spoke up quietly, telling him that he should just forget. His gray eyes fell to Toph’s face from where she lay on her back only feet away from him. Her face was calm, unseeing eyes open towards the stars. Looking at her, he knew that she was right; it would be easier to forget. To forget what was drawing nearer, to forget what others were telling him was inevitable... to forget that people want him to sacrifice his morals as an airbender to save the world.
That would be easier, but forgetting not only seemed impossible to him, it was impossible. He needed to remember his past, his culture, his people. He needed the airbenders to live on in memory through him, through his actions. He needed to remember that, while he was the Avatar and had a duty to the world, he also had a duty to himself and to an eradicated nation.
No one seemed to understand that, he could tell by the looks on his friends’ faces whenever the topic of him sparing Ozai’s life came up. He could tell they didn’t understand by the words they spoke to him, encouraging to end the war by ending a life.
He could tell by Toph’s words, saying he needed to learn to forget.
“I don’t want to forget about it,” Aang finally murmured into the night.

Worry never wore well on Sokka, especially when it pertained to Toph. His feet hit the stone path with frantic conviction and the weight he carried bound beneath his chest ached with every step. It hadn’t taken much to convince him to stop by; Katara couldn’t pretend things were alright (though she’d never been a good liar to begin with).
In the moment his knuckles rapped against her front door, Sokka’s heart sunk even deeper down to his stomach. By this point Toph would have already greeted him and opened the door before he even had the chance to knock. Shifting and straightening himself up for another knock, the crease of his brow deepened into a wrinkled line of concern.
“Toph? Uh, Toph, you home?” He pushed forward and somehow when he walked inside and saw the woman who –– despite the bags beneath her unseeing eyes and the rocks absently slipping around her fingers from where she sat –– had her bun made perfectly atop her head, Sokka exhaled with audible relief. “Hey, stranger ... whatcha up to?”

” Oh really? What are they gonna do? Put us in more detention? Come on, Aang. They’re just wasting our time. It’s not like I actually did anything wrong. Being rude is not a crime. “
"Well, yeah more detention for one," Aang answered her. He wouldn't admit that he hated getting in with the school's authority figures, but she probably already knew. His feet tapped on the floor in time with the ticking of the clock.
"Maybe next time you won't start a fight with a teacher... and maybe next time I won't try to play mediator..."
