welcome to the abbott family, a cop, a novelist and their two kids. youâd be surprised to learn that they actually had two kids; they never mention their youngest, their son, the interpol agent. no, itâs all about their daughter: call her amazing amy if you will.
when lauren was three years old she was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness that was starting to shut down her vital organs. her parents were distraught -- their baby girl was everything that they had, and so they start to reach out to people. they made the local news in west milford, nj, setting up fundraising events with the help of detective abbottâs fine, upstanding reputation as a police officer. with the sale of mrs. abbottâs childrenâs books, they were able to raise money to pay their daughterâs medical bills.
the only problem was she was on a very, very long list of donors for a new liver, and she was running out of time. so, the abbotts came up with a brilliant solution: have another child, and the abbots never let a problem stand in their way. so, they did.
except, when mrs. abbott was six months pregnant, they found a donor for their daughter. she was cured!!!!!!!!!! it was a miracle!!!!!!!!!! (more or less)
the issue then arose that the child theyâd conceived to save their little girl was no longer needed. they were too far along for a termination, and werenât callous enough to give him up for adoption. so, instead, they decided to just ignore him.
the eldest abbott was given all the extra love and attention she deserved; she was smart, and beautiful, and so, so strong, and with her parents extra glad that she was still alive after her traumatic first few years, there was no real time or attention for madison. he grew up in a household with no love left over for him, and learned to accept it as a very early age.
when she was about nine and maddie was three, their father was shot while out on duty and paralysed from the neck down. of course, their mother played this off as another âtragicâ story that she could write about, they hired a live-in nurse and the children learned what not to say around him to set him off into one of his âfitsâ.
madison joined the police to try and impress their father, though his passion has always been coding. his sister went to law school and their father isnât really happy with either of their choices.
thereâs two ways that this could all be played out:
one -- the eldest sister rebels and their parents donât understand why she isnât their perfect little angel anymore. she has a series of bestselling books written about how amazing she is, after all (a mix between âamazing amyâ and the âmy sisterâs keeperâ type novels). sheâs a loose cannon and has come to canada to stay nearer the brother that she knows has basically been ignored for his entire life to either a) just be close to someone that doesnât treat her like glass or b) to try and bring him back into the family fold. and, of course, she became a lawyer to piss their dad off.
two -- sheâs lived up to her expectations, became a lawyer because thatâs what their mother wanted her to. sheâs in canada on a specific cross-country case, and is trying to rekindle things with her brother.
(also if sheâs an attorney that means that sheâs going to have to depose him in court!!!!!!!!!!!)
basically this is a big mess, and itâs going to be completely full of angst!!!!!!!!!!!!! and drama!!!!!!!!!!!!! which everyone loves ofc???? madison has his own shit going on + probably needs his sister there, too.Â
