Encountering processions in foreign places is tangible in memory. It has happened for me a handful of times and this particular procession was of Santa Rita, The Patroness for Impossible Causes ✨️ in Valetta, Malta. Meandering down lovely streets and relishing in the atmosphere, all of a sudden we heard singing, heavy footsteps and then watched a cat blare around the corner and hide under a car. We looked up after turning the corner and quickly realized we were walking into a crowd of prayer in unison, the rosary, recognizable in any language. We stood for most of the procession passing. The weight of the statue looked burdensome and all were struggling to hold it up, yet it kept floating down the street, people rushing in to take the weight off those who could not hold the platform up any longer. A dance of comradery and communal support.
