Dear comic book industry, Please stop. I release you think that all comic book readers are 14 year old boys who get their rocks off by seeing over sexualised, half naked women in stripperific outfits because you think they don't have access to free internet porn, but those boys do and WOMEN READ YOUR COMICS TOO! I love Red Sonja, but the chain mail bikini needs to go. Black Widow does not have to fight villains in her bra to seem tough. Star fire just needs some clothing, full stop. The return of the boob window on Power Girl made me stop reading World's Finest, and trust me on this, Catwoman, Idunn, Star fire, Hel - THEIR BOOBS WOULD JUST FALL OUT. I'm sick of seeing characters being objectified as just these sexual objects. I've been reading comics for nearly 25 years, women are under represented and objectified. You know what's doing great stuff for female comic characters right now? The TV show arrow, the female characters have cool - non stripper outfits - they get plenty of air time and are just as kick ass as the dudes. I'm not a militant feminist by any means and I know guys get the all-muscles objectifications too, but there's a huge difference between seeing one or two panels of a shirtless Tony Stark and a 23 page book where an awesome warrior kills dozens of people in a chain mail bikini which would scrub her nipples off. Can we please end this now? Yours sincerely, women of the Internet and the world.
More cosplay notes! Because why not. And some thoughts on stripperific armors on male chars.
Plus, it's better that I get this figured out now rather than later.
