High time I did an update on my Stings of Pearls/Beads! They have grown beautifully and are trailing over their pots by now, even though I folded back some of the stings a couple times. I only water them when the soil has almost completely dried out. Sometimes I even forget about them. Senecio are a type of succulent so they like their soil on the dry side. Especially in winter.
Also; I am no longer sure these really are Senecio rowleyanus. I just discovered the String of Beads actually is a different kind of Senecio β the herreianus to be exact β with more elongated grape-like leaves and a more compact growth than its sister succulent the String of Pearls. If that is so, I would have to adapt my expectations of what this plant will look like once fully established.
I want to combine both pots into one big plant, but I think an extensive repotting session at this time of year would be a terrible idea. So Iβll wait till spring. Maybe they will prove to be just as beautiful on their own.
