Theo slowed his soft tapping of the piano keys, turning his attention to Astoria who sat just across from him. He had been playing a song, one filled with guilt and regret but that had been stamped into his brain. One that he wrote when he had been living with the Malfoys during the summer between sixth and seventh year. He only remembered it so well because when the Dark Lord had heard it, he had declared it ‘good enough for repeated listens’. So Theo was made to play it often, whenever the Dark Lord wanted...throughout the entire summer.

“Why do you believe I’m unhappy?” Theo questioned, turning his body now so his full attention was on Astoria. Astoria, who looked at him sometimes as if he was about to break. Not that he could say anything about that, since Theo was guilty of looking at her the same way.

Two broken people, trying to put the other back together again, neither one accepting that they weren’t puzzle pieces. Astoria had the potential of becoming a beautiful mosaics but Theo knew he would be broken forever.

"Not more than the usual." Daphne murmured as she stirred her tea. Dark magic wasn't a controversial topic among Purebloods but she knew that her little sister wasn't particularly inclined to that path of magic. A path that, ironically as she was thinking about it now, Theo had introduced her to long ago.

That thought made her stop her stirring, looking up at Astoria with a faint and secret smile on her lips. Her little sister would never have to perform dark magic, Daphne would ensure that fact. But her intrigue about it lead Daphne down a dangerous path of thought.
