“ALWAYS. BE. CREATING.”
by Meg Zany
A feminist, with pink hair to boot, @DailyDot says Meg Zany “is the physical embodiment of an empowered Miss Shortcake.” Following in the footsteps of one of her first mentors, @WRDSMTH, Zany casts her positive messages far and wide, and while not always done with permission she’s very careful about choosing neglected walls and not defacing property. While Zany is perhaps still best known for her paintings of 1980s cartoon character Strawberry Shortcake alongside simple but powerful admonitions—some as simple as her “Don’t Be A Dick” message apparently still lost on many—Zany’s work now includes a wide variety of visual vehicles for her popular messages. In August, 2018, in partnership with @CreativeFuture1 Zany created this personal expression of the importance of creativity in the parking lot of LA Arts District Imperial St market and eatery, @UrbanRadish. @megzany/
