so for gillette, i’m thinking not just clean aquatic vibes, but something with a slightly sharper, cheekier edge in contrast to the more prim-and-proper aquatics i assigned to james.
and for a man who’s constantly having a terrible day at work (and mostly based on the name alone), i’d probably go with belly of the whale by anomalous perfume (marine, salt, waterfall, mandarin, ozone, driftwood, ambergris, sandalwood, musk, animalics, vanilla, benzoin). it has this slightly feral, animalic undertone that feels very “salt-crusted, been-through-it” in a way that suits him.
or, alternatively, black sea by lorenzo pazzaglia (bergamot, sardinian myrtle, salt, ozone, aquatic notes, orange blossom, black salt of cyprus, ylang-ylang, seaweed, musk, patchouli, oakmoss, ambergris). i feel like the myrtle note in particular adds a green, slightly bitter sharpness that keeps it from being just a “nice ocean scent” and gives it a bit more character.
