16. lazily

there were many perks to being able to live with hanbyul now. but if he had to choose his favorite, it’d be the fact that he could be able to wake up next to him every morning. before moving in with him, ryan’s mornings would always feel like a cruel reminder on how he was still living such a boring, tasteless life. he was still living with his parents, even if he felt every bit of himself dreading the fact that he was still there with them. 

gone were the days where he was constantly feeling negative about it all. as ryan opens his eyelids slowly to see the other next to him, he couldn’t help but smile from the sight of him. and it doesn’t take too long for hanbyul to wake up after him and smile back. 

“hey,” the other greets lazily, his voice low from just waking up. at that moment, ryan wanted to do nothing but kiss him all over and stop the talking. but another part of him wanted to hear him speak in that cute voice some more, so he does do anything... besides respond. 

“hi.” it’s happy, but also comes out a little tired. even if so, ryan could never get tired of the other. 

“did you just wake up, too?” he asks. 

ryan nods in response. “was waiting for you to wake up, to be honest.” 

hanbyul giggles. “were you just watching me the whole time?” he asks. “you’re gay for that.” 

ryan rolls his eyes. “well, that’s what i get for having you as my boyfriend.” 

the other hums as he closes his eyes and leans forward at the other. “kiss me good morning.” 

ryan laughs. “why?” he asks. “why can’t i just kiss you so that both of us can go back to sleep?” 

hanbyul keeps his eyes closed, but his lips form into a pout now. “don’t you have to go see your manager today?” 

“yes...”

“and i have to go to classes today.” 

ryan sighs before he in to give the other a quick peck, more on the corner of his lips then directly on them. it frustrates the other obviously that ryan immediately feels the other kick him and he couldn’t help but laugh. 

“more effort, dummy.” 

“fine, fine,” he sighs before he leans in again, giving the other still a short, but more menaingful and sweeter kiss. as he pulls away, he finally sits up and stretches his arms and legs out as he gets out of bed, the other following suit 

“i hate you.”

“pneumonia?” the woman on the other side of the desk nods as if seongwoo had just stated an obvious fact like the world’s rotation. seongwoo looks around again, fearing that his (friend? classmate?) workmate and his father would walk by him any time again. the corridor seems pretty empty, given that there are rooms on each side, brightly lit but with barely a murmur of machines and steps, seongwoo reminds himself again that what he is doing s no weird. no, really? just casually following his crush to the hospital. not really following he was just checking. 

his hands flat against the desk, eyes fixed on them. it took sweat and a lot of acting to know who wonshik’s relative was and why they were here, and again he had to leave soon because if anyone knew stalker is the less of the list of things they’d call him. “and h-how...it can be treated, right?” the woman nods again, her hands with crimson painted nails put what seems to be a document on the space between his sweaty palms on the desk, and asks if he is out of age. “wait, that’s...” the total pricing of the treatment, genius as ever, seongwoo. 

impulsive? yes, he has always been. regret is not even in his damn dictionary, neither it will be. but from jumping in the middle of a café and singing that nayana song, to taking out his credit card and paying for the treatment well...there’s a huge space. a teenage-crush-wide space.

the doors open at the end of the corridor. seongwoo bows at the woman, almost hits his head against the desk, signs a paper and flees behind a panel filled with health information. he can hear wonshik’s and his dad’s steps getting closer to the desk. seongwoo takes a deep breath.
