It was the day after to celebrate fathers, and yet one of the assistants in the presidential hall was carrying a package that had been stamped a few times to show it had traveled far. As the assistant arrived at Laguna’s office they gave a light knock on the door.
"President Loire? This package came for you." The assistant said as they offered the box to the other. The package itself had a few stamps on it, which showed it came from a far distance away, but no return address.
If opened inside the box was a lot of packing peanuts and two items. One was a blank leather notebook and the other was a fountain pen. Hiding in all of the peanuts was one tiny little card with the typed words reading “To: Laguna” on it. Again it was obvious the sender was trying their best in concealing just who they were.
In his private office Laguna observed the boxed package with intense curiosity. Before delving into his treasure he sat the box down, staring at it. Who would send him a present? His birthday wasn't in June, nor was Christmas anytime soon.
He opened the box and gasped at its contents. His fingers brushed the cover of the notebook. He moved to the pen, testing it in his left hand. Eyes swelling with tears -- just from the simple thoughtfulness of the gift, Laguna scanned the contents for a name.
He dumped the box upside down, checked all the sides, frantically searching he almost missed the teeny card. He humphed as he read it.
To Laguna.
He sighed as opened the notebook. Maybe a note was inside there. Finding nothing Laguna pouted.
"Thanks -- whoever it was."
