sometimes it didn’t matter if they were only ALONE for a small parcel of time. what mattered was that they were alone.

sympathy coursed through him. he could not help her reach reconciliation, could not give her soul REST when he had hardly any answers. all he could offer was the comfort that he felt the same. that her feelings were not so SINGULAR as to isolate her completely.

since we're on the topic of languages...why don't... i hc mirajane to be of like european decent right so consider her teaching gray german or smth in return for some Norwegian
friend, i am so d o w n for this. at first it’s only spoken & written norwegian that gray teaches her. but as they grow older & closer together, gray feels comfortable enough that he starts teaching mira sign language !!
since we're on the topic of languages...why don't you talk about how much he'd like to learn new ones? does he find himself switching among them?

he would love to learn new languages. languages are his lifeblood. communication has been a sore point with gray ever since his hearing has started to go due to noise exposure. gray felt so alone in fiore at first because a) the spoken language was different and b) so was the local sign language! he hates the idea of someone being barred from understanding or participating just because of a language barrier.
languages are so important to him. he makes a huge effort to learn the mother tongues of the people around him.
he curses a lot in norwegian too. & finds himself muttering underneath his breath about something or another.
gray is a lot more comfortable with nsl than any other type of sign language & he has a habit of defaulting to it. gray usually signs out in lsf when he’s speaking with people in the guild, but he’s always keen on learning the other strains of sign language based on other people’s backgrounds.
traveling is a great way for gray to be more exposed to new cultures & languages. which is why gray wants to go off on his own & just wander across the lands :)
