You don’t expect him to say it back…but he ends up saying so much more.
Rubik's Cube: Eddie loves watching you getting ready. His full undivided attention is on you…until he finds a little Rubik’s cube on one of your shelves. Naturally, he just has to prove he can get it done under a minute.

Sweetheart, I would’ve drowned in melancholy: When you ask Eddie what would’ve happened if you’d never met, he says he would’ve been destined to a fate of melancholy and drowning…aka he fell in love with you, and that saved him.

For Good: Steve and you had history together…and then Eddie happened. As your “best friend”, you waited for Steve to care. He waited for you to let him in. Neither of you moved on. Now, months of grief and guilt explode in one awful fight that might break you for good.

Soft boyfriend Clark
Check my old masterlist here. For characters like Peter Parker, Steve Rogers, Thor, and Loki.
After a brutal argument, you run. Henry lets you. Until he doesn’t. You hide in the cave you always go to when things get too loud, but he follows, furious and afraid in equal measure. The fight outside the cave is worse than the first. Henry doesn’t beg, doesn’t soften at first. He corners you with truth, control, and want. He convinces you to come home, and on the walk back through the woods, he makes sure you understand exactly what running from him costs and why he won’t let you do it again.
Warnings: intense arguments, raised voices, emotional manipulation, possessive behavior, implied consensual punishment, sexual tension, power imbalance themes
Word Count: about 2,500
You run because staying would have broken something.
The argument still rings in your ears as you shove through the trees, breath uneven, heart pounding like it’s trying to escape your ribs. Leaves scratch your arms, branches snag at your clothes, but you don’t slow down. You know where you’re going. You always do.
The cave sits at the edge of the woods, hidden just enough to feel private. Cool stone. Quiet. A place where Henry’s voice doesn’t echo quite so loud in your head.
You duck inside and slide down against the wall, dragging in shaky breaths. Your hands tremble as you press them to your face.
You shouldn’t have said it.
You shouldn’t have pushed him like that.
But he shouldn’t have cornered you, either. Shouldn’t have told you what you were allowed to feel. Shouldn’t have looked at you like you were something he owned when all you wanted was space.
Your jaw tightens. Anger twists with something softer and more dangerous underneath it.
You hear his footsteps before you see him.
Henry doesn’t come into the cave right away. He stops just outside, far enough back that his shadow stretches across the stone floor but his body stays hidden. The air feels heavier the second he arrives, like the woods themselves recognize him.
“Come out,” he says.
His voice is sharp. Controlled. The kind of calm that means he’s holding himself back.
You don’t answer.
Henry exhales slowly. You can almost hear him counting, grounding himself the way he does when he’s angry and trying not to break something.
“I’m not leaving,” he says.
You press your forehead to your knees. “Go home.”
Silence.
Then, quieter but no less dangerous, “You are home.”
Your chest tightens. You hate how easily he can do that. Twist words until they feel like truth.
“I needed space,” you snap. “You don’t get to decide that for me.”
Henry steps closer. His boots scrape against stone just outside the cave entrance.
“You don’t get to run,” he fires back.
You surge to your feet, anger flaring hot enough to drown out the fear. You step forward until you’re standing just inside the mouth of the cave, face tilted up toward him.
“I absolutely do,” you say. “You don’t own me.”
Henry’s jaw tightens. His eyes burn in the low light, something dark and possessive flashing there before he reins it in.
“I didn’t say I owned you,” he says.
You laugh, brittle. “You don’t have to.”
Henry’s hand flexes at his side. For a second you think he might grab you, pull you out by force.
He doesn’t.
That restraint is worse.
“You disappear into the woods without a word,” he says, voice low. “You think I don’t know what that does to me.”
“That’s not my problem,” you shoot back.
Henry’s mouth twists. “You’re wrong.”
The words land heavy.
You fold your arms over your chest, defensive. “I didn’t want to fight.”
“And yet you ran,” Henry says, stepping closer again. His shadow swallows more of the cave floor. “You always run when things get real.”
That hits too close.
You shake your head. “Don’t do that.”
“Do what,” he asks.
“Act like you’re the only one who feels things,” you snap. “You don’t get to be the only one who’s scared.”
Henry stills.
The anger in his eyes flickers, replaced by something sharp and wounded.
“I don’t get scared,” he says.
You scoff. “You followed me.”
Silence stretches between you, thick and tense.
Henry exhales through his nose, slow and deliberate. “I followed you,” he admits, “because you don’t know when to stop.”
Your heart stutters. “Stop what.”
“Pushing,” he says. “Running. Testing how far you can go before I snap.”
You swallow. “Maybe I wanted to see if you would.”
Henry steps fully into the cave then. The space feels smaller instantly, like the stone walls lean inward under his presence.
“You don’t want that,” he says quietly.
You meet his gaze, stubborn even as your pulse races. “You don’t know what I want.”
Henry stops an arm’s length away from you. Close enough that you can feel his heat, smell the faint metallic edge that always clings to him.
“I know exactly what you want,” he says. “You want to be chased. You want to be proven worth staying for.”
Your breath catches. “That’s not true.”
Henry’s eyes flick to your mouth, then back up. “Then why are you still standing here.”
The truth sits heavy on your tongue.
You don’t answer.
Henry’s voice drops, slower now, dangerous in a different way. “You could have gone farther. You didn’t.”
Your shoulders sag despite yourself. “I just needed you to stop.”
Henry’s hand lifts, stopping just short of touching you. The restraint looks like it costs him something.
“I don’t stop,” he says. “I control.”
You laugh softly, humorless. “That’s supposed to make me feel better.”
“It should,” he replies. “Because I didn’t come here to hurt you.”
Your eyes flick up, searching his face. “Then why does it feel like you might.”
Henry leans in, close enough that his voice brushes your ear. “Because you know I could.”
Your breath shudders.
“And because,” he continues, “you also know I won’t.”
The admission twists something deep in your chest.
You whisper, “I hate when you do that.”
“Good,” Henry murmurs. “It means you’re listening.”
You shove lightly at his chest, more frustration than force. “You can’t just decide when I come back.”
Henry’s hand closes around your wrist, firm but not painful. His grip anchors you, steady and deliberate.
“I can,” he says. “And you will.”
Your pulse jumps. “You don’t get to punish me for needing air.”
Henry’s eyes darken. “You didn’t need air.”
You inhale sharply. “What did I need, then.”
His thumb presses into the inside of your wrist, right where your pulse flutters.
“You needed to be reminded,” he says, “that you don’t walk away from me without consequences.”
The word consequences sends a shiver down your spine.
You should pull away.
You don’t.
Henry watches your reaction closely, like he’s cataloging every breath, every flicker of fear and want.
“This doesn’t scare you the way it should,” he observes.
Your voice comes out unsteady. “You don’t scare me.”
Henry tilts his head. “You should lie better.”
Silence hums between you.
Then, softer, “Come home.”
The command hits harder than the argument ever did.
You hesitate. “And if I don’t.”
Henry’s grip tightens just slightly. “Then I’ll carry you.”
Your breath hitches. “You wouldn’t.”
Henry’s mouth curves into something that isn’t a smile. “Try me.”
You stare at him, anger melting into something heavy and complicated.
“You’re impossible,” you mutter.
“And you’re coming with me,” he replies.
You don’t fight when he guides you out of the cave. His hand stays on your wrist, not dragging, just leading. Claiming. The woods close in around you, dark and quiet.
The walk back is slow.
Too slow.
Henry stops suddenly, pulling you to a halt between the trees. He turns to face you, eyes burning with something raw.
“You ran,” he says again, like he needs you to understand. “You don’t get to do that without paying for it.”
Your heart pounds. “Henry.”
He steps closer, backing you against a tree. One hand plants beside your head, blocking any easy escape. The other still holds your wrist, lifting it above your shoulder.
“You wanted space,” he murmurs. “You got it.”
His gaze drops to your lips. “Now you deal with what comes after.”
Your breath turns shallow. “You’re not allowed to hurt me.”
Henry leans in, stopping just short of touching you. “I’m allowed to teach you.”
The implication makes your stomach flip.
His voice lowers, intimate and dangerous. “You don’t run because you’re angry,” he says. “You run because you like knowing I’ll follow.”
You shake your head, but the denial feels weak. “That’s not fair.”
Henry’s thumb presses into your wrist again, grounding, possessive. “Neither is leaving me standing there wondering if you’ll come back.”
Your chest tightens. “I always come back.”
Henry’s eyes soften for half a second, then harden again. “That doesn’t mean I won’t remind you why.”
He steps back just enough to give you space to breathe. The restraint feels deliberate, like he’s choosing control over instinct.
“This ends now,” he says. “You come home with me. You don’t disappear without a word again.”
You swallow. “And if I do.”
Henry’s gaze locks onto yours. “Then next time, I won’t wait outside the cave.”
The warning sinks deep.
You nod slowly. “Okay.”
Henry studies you for a long moment, then releases your wrist. The loss of his grip feels like a sudden cold.
“Good,” he says quietly.
He takes your hand instead, fingers interlacing with yours in a grip that’s firm and unmistakably his. The gesture is softer than the argument, heavier than an apology.
You walk back through the woods together, tension still coiled tight between you. Neither of you speaks.
When you reach the edge of the trees and the lights of home flicker into view, Henry finally squeezes your hand.
“You don’t have to run,” he says.
You glance up at him, voice small but honest. “You don’t have to chase.”
Henry’s gaze flickers. “I will.”
The admission hangs between you, dark and devoted.
And despite everything, you let him lead you home.
the party flakes on plans, and lucas realizes waiting isn’t so bad when it’s with you.

Summary: You quite literally had everything. The perfect job, the perfect boyfriend, the perfect life. That was until a scandal you didn’t cause shattered it all. Now forced to start over in a city that doesn’t know your name, you are forced to take a job far beneath your old life and meet Steve Harrington, your new coworker who can’t seem to stand you. You’re spoiled, he’s stubborn, and things are about to get complicated.
Pairing: Steve Harrington x Fem!Reader
Warnings: 18+ content, office coworkers au, the usual stranger things/upside down mayhem does not exist, mentions of Y/N, some mistakes in information so not everything is factual because this is only fanfiction, slow burn, set in the early 2000s, enemies to lovers trope, spoiled rich girl!reader x stubborn golden boy!steve, eventual smut, angst, fluff, hurt/comfort, specific warnings will be included in the chapter itself
Note: This is my new Stranger Things series, except, it’s not set in the original universe. This will be set in the early 2000s, and all of the Upside Down mayhem does not exist. However, all of the characters will continue to have the same personality as they do in the show. This is a slow burn, enemies to lovers story with a focus on Luxe (aka reader — don’t worry, her name is whatever you choose) and Steve. There will be lots of office tension, banter, and emotional growth ahead. I hope you enjoy reading!

Request: hi!! How do you feel about Dustin x popular reader? I was thinking maybe during s4, she heard that they needed a sub for dnd and she privately asked Eddie if she could sub and Eddie obviously thought it was a joke. And like when Dustin asked his girlfriend to be a sub for the game, she just lied and said she was busy. so Eddie overheard Dustin’s conversation with Mike where he was saying like “yeah y/n was acting really weird so I called her mom and she didn’t have any plans and she’s always wanted to play with us she just didn’t have the time to join the club” and Eddie was like “wait, y/n? Summary: When you offer to sub in for the Hellfire Club, Eddie Munson thought it was some sort of prank the popular kids were up to. He didn't know you were serious. He also didn't know he just embarrassed his friends girlfriend.
Notes: I miss Eddie Munson. That's it. That's all I have for you.
Masterlist
The first time you hear about the missing Hellfire player, it’s not from Eddie Munson. It’s from your boyfriend.
You find him between first and second period, pacing near his locker like he’s in distress, hair frizzing under his hat.
“This is ridiculous! He’s really gonna ditch our campaign for basketball, huh?” Dustin groans, clutching his binder.
“Dustin,” you say, half laughing, “it’s the championship. Lucas can’t miss that.”
“I know he can’t,” he sighs, but it means we’re down a player for the biggest campaign of the semester. Eddie’s gonna flip!”
“And?”
“And we need a sub, and no one wants to be part of the ‘satanic cult’.” He air-quotes, mocking the crowd who call it such.
You raise an eyebrow at him, a silent gesture to continue.
“Max is a hard no. I practically begged Steve. You know how that turned out. I’m out of options here. Me and Mike have been scraping the bottom of the barrel to find someone.”
You hide a smile. “I can think of one more person you could ask.”
Dustin gives you a look halfway between hope and horror. “Don’t even think about it.”
“Why not?” you tease, nudging his shoulder. “I’ve listened to you explain every campaign for months. Spells, traps, the whole deal. I could probably keep up. Plus, I’m benched from cheer at this weeks because of screwing up my ankle in practice last week, so I’d just be rotting at home.”
“Because, babe,” he says like it’s the most obvious thing in the world, “you’re… you. My social butterfly. You’re too cool for Hellfire.”
You laugh out loud. “Wow. Thanks for believing in me, Dust. But you know I’ve wanted to play with you guys for a while now, I just haven’t gotten the time.”
He flushes. “That’s not what I meant! I just- ugh, Eddie’s got this whole… Eddie thing going on. He’s not gonna go easy on you.”
“I don’t want him to go easy on me. I can hold my own, Dustin, I’m on the cheer team, some of those girls are brutal.”
The bell rings. Dustin grabs your hand quick, giving it a squeeze. You flash him a grin and head to class. But the thought sticks in your head the whole morning. By lunch, it’s an itch you can’t shake, so when you see Eddie hovering over the Hellfire table, you march straight over.
──────────────────────────
Eddie Munson dominates the back-left table like he was born on stage, recounting a battle scene for a table of wide-eyed freshmen. When you approach, the room seems to tilt its attention your way. The cafeteria seems to notice too, because why were you, of all people, standing next to Eddie Munson?
“Hey,” you say casually, fidgeting with the strap of your bag.
Eddie’s voice cuts mid-sentence. He glances up with his mop of curls, smile halfway caught between suspicion and amusement. “Can I help you?”
“Yeah.” You shift your weight. “You’re Eddie, right? You run Hellfire?”
“I plead guilty, your honour.”
“Cool. I heard you needed a sub for Friday because of the championship game, and Lucas is out.”
There’s a flicker of disbelief that washes over his face. He blinks once, then leans back in his chair with a slow grin. “I’m sorry, you heard what now?”
“That you’re down a player,” you say, trying to sound confident. “I thought maybe I could fill in.”
He snorts before he can stop himself. “You? Play Dungeons & Dragons?”
There’s laughter from table. You meet his eyes, unflinching. “Is that funny?”
“Just… unexpected,” he says, grin tugging wider as he looks at your cheer uniform. “No offence, but this club’s for freaks, not… whatever this is.” He waves to your uniform.
“I didn’t realize you had a dress code.” You lift a brow.
That shuts him up for half a second. “What, you’re serious?”
“As I’ll ever be,” you say, not missing a beat.
He lets out another laugh, but it softens a bit this time.
“Okay, sure, princess. Hellfire meets at five in the drama room. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
You just smile and turn to leave.
Eddie watches you walk away, leaving him staring at your back, shaking his head in disbelief. “She’s kidding,” he mutters. “She has to be kidding.”
──────────────────────────
Eddie’s standing in the hallway outside the drama room when familiar voices catch his attention.
“…Yeah, she was acting super weird,” Dustin looks at Mike, voice low but carrying. “We talked this morning and she seemed pretty eager to fill in. But when I was talking to her earlier, she was short with me and said she was busy. So then I called her mom-”
Mike interrupts. “Wait, you called her mom?”
“-and her mom said she didn’t have plans! She’s always wanted to play with us, man, she just never has time between cheer and everything.”
Eddie freezes. Wait. A popular girl. Acting weird about D&D. Eager to sub, but suddenly busy. His brain stutters, then slams the pieces together. No fucking way.
He steps into the doorway, trying for casual. “Hold up,” he says. “Who are you two talking about?”
Dustin blinks. “Uh… nobody. Just-”
“Spill, Henderson.” Eddie presses, grin masking the sudden embarrassment creeping up his neck.
Dustin exhales. “My girlfriend.”
Mike elbows him. “The cheerleader.”
Eddie’s stomach drops. The cheerleader. Princess Hawkins. The one he laughed at.
“Oh, Jesus H. Christ! You’ve got to be kidding me,” he mutters, dragging a hand through his hair. “That’s your girlfriend? That’s the same girl who asked me to sub earlier today!”
Dustin straightens. “She asked you? When?”
Eddie grimaces. Shit. “At lunch in the Cafeteria. You two freaks weren’t there. I thought she was joking.”
“Oh, my god,” Dustin groans, dragging a hand down his face. “You laughed at her, didn’t you?”
“I...” Eddie hesitates, guilt twisting sharp. “A little?”
Mike stifles a laugh behind his fist. Dustin, not so much.
“Dude!” he blurts. “She probably thinks you hate her now!”
“Hey, it’s not my fault she looked like someone who grades dice on how much it sparkles!” Eddie defends, but it lands weaker than usual. Damn it. He’d assumed she was pranking him. Now he realizes she was serious and he’d just embarrassed Dustin’s girlfriend.
Dustin glares at him, “She’s always wanted to play with us, man! But between school and cheer and everything else she does, she never has time!”
Eddie raises his hands. “Fine, fine. I owe her an apology. She still coming tonight?”
Dustin shakes his head. “Doubt it. She told me she was busy, even though I know better than that.”
──────────────────────────
You meant to go. You really did. But having to look at Eddie Munson after he laughed in your face is something you didn’t particularly look forward to.
It wasn’t particularly the embarrassment, though that was pretty up there. It was deeper than that, how everyone at Hawkins has you pegged as just a popular girl who existed only for the social ladder. No layers or personality. No interests beyond pompoms, parties, and whatever drama could be stirred up that week.
Like you couldn’t possibly love books, or music, or the way Dustin’s eyes lit up mid-rant. Like how D&D, a world you’ve pieced together through a hundred stories from your boyfriend, was off limits because it didn’t fit in the script everyone else wrote for you.
So when Dustin calls later that night, you tell him you’ve been busy studying. Which isn’t technically a lie as you did open a book. You just haven’t turned the page in twenty minutes.
“Busy?” he says suspiciously through the phone. “Your mom said you-.”
You groan. “You called my mom?”
“I panicked!” he defends. Then, softer: “You sure you’re okay?”
You hesitate, chewing your lip. The words bubble up before you can swallow them. “…No. Not really.”
Silence crackles on the line. “What happened?”
“Eddie laughed at me,” you admit, quieter now. “In the cafeteria. Like it was the stupidest thing he’d ever heard. And it’s not even that. It’s… everyone looks at me like I’m some airhead. No brains, no hobbies. Like I couldn’t possibly get your stupid dice game because it doesn’t match the ‘popular girl’ bullshit they all expect.”
Dustin sucks in a breath. “Holy shit. Hun, that’s not- Eddie’s an idiot, okay? And screw what everyone else thinks. You’re the smartest person I know, and it’s not just the grades that prove that. You’ve been grilling me on campaigns for months! Asking about spells, arguing over trap mechanics. You’d kill at Hellfire.”
Your throat tightens, a little laugh slipping out despite the ache. “You think?”
“I know.” A pause, then fierce: “Don’t let them, or him, make you feel small. You belong wherever you damn well want.”
You smile into the receiver, warmth seeping through the line. “When’d you get so good at this?”
“Learned from the best,” he says, soft and sure. “Next week. Come with me. Prove ‘em all wrong?”
You exhale, decision settling like a perfect roll. “Yeah. Okay. I’m in.”
“Atta girl.” His grin’s audible.
“Who covered Lucas tonight, by the way?” You ask.
“Erica. She’s a beast. We only won ‘cause of her.”
Real laugh now, tension cracking. “No way. I knew she had a secret nerd side. Love that for her.”
“So do you, and I love that about you,” he murmurs. “No ifs, ands, or buts. See you Friday.”
“Fine. You’ve twisted my arm.”
──────────────────────────
The room goes silent the second you walk in. The conversation halts, and everyone darts their eyes over to you. The only sound left is the faint hum of the radiator in the room.
“Hey,” you say casually, despite your pulse hammering in your throat. “Heard you needed a sub again this week.”
Dustin’s face lights up like Christmas. “Told ya she’d show!”
Eddie blinks a couple of times, then he grins. “Well, I’ll be damned.”
“Still an open invitation, right?” you ask.
He gestures at the chair diagonal from him, kicking it out from the table with the toe of his shoe. “Sure is, princess. Let’s see if you have what it takes.”
You’re hooked before you realize it. Leaning over the table, improvising your own dialogue. Every dramatic thing Eddie throws your way makes the story sharper, drawing you in. It’s your first real game, so you did fumble a few times.
But then Eddie leans in, voice dropping low and gravelly: “Dustin's bard's about to get chomped.” The table holds its breath. You blurt, heart slamming, “Perception check? I... check it?”
“D20, princess. Roll for your boy's life.” Eddie's eyes glint over his DM book.
Your fingers fumble the die. It spins wild across the table, bouncing before it rattles to a stop. 20. Bold black numbers staring at the ceiling.
Dustin leaps to his feet, shouting, “YES! That’s my girl! SUCK IT, Munson!”
You laugh so hard your stomach aches.
Eddie, meanwhile, hides behind his screen, grinning into his hands. “Did not expect that,” he admits under his breath. “Did not see that coming.”
You grin, breathless. “Glad I could prove you wrong.”
Dustin beams. “Told you she was good."
Eddie bursts out laughing, rubbing his temples, then holding out a hand for you to shake, which you reciprocate. “Unbelievable. Welcome to Hellfire.”

⭑.ᐟ summary: Andi Henderson and Steve Harrington had been inseparable since they were six. Even when Steve turned into the school’s golden boy, he never quite stopped looking for Andi in a crowded room. But somewhere between the late-night drives and shared jokes, Andi started seeing Steve differently. Not the one everyone worshiped, but the boy who only ever let his guard down around her. And then he fell for Nancy Wheeler. Or at least, he thought he did. Andi tried to smile through it, tried to pretend her heart didn’t crack every time he looked at Nancy the way she wished he’d look at her. One night, at a party Steve threw while his parents were gone, she drank too much trying to forget. Laughter blurred into silence, and a scream tore through the night. Andi ran outside nothing. Just cold air and the echo of something wrong. The next morning Barbara Holland was missing and Andi couldn't shake the guilt or the way Steve eyes seemed to linger on her when she wasn't looking.
