PIC-NIC de Fernando Arrabal, logotipo para obra de radiotheatre (leer en la segunda imagen) ‘Picnic’, ‘Pic-Nic’ or ‘Picnic on the battlefield’ is a theatre work written by Fernando Arrabal between 1952 and 1956. The work, as Arrabal tries to represent it, is a clear plea against the war. Today it continues to be represented throughout the world "to show the absurdity of the deaf war" according to Arrabal. The play tells, in an absurd way, how a couple decides to go to war to visit their son, a soldier, and propose a field day on the battlefront. Then an enemy soldier will appear, who will join this picnic in a friendly way and begin to comment on what happens in the war, concluding that none of them wants to be there, seeking solutions to end this absurd conflict; Happy with their ideas and with the intention of returning home, they are killed because of the battle that begins to rage where they were. In the middle of the play there’s a bombing, then the father open his umbrella and waits until the bombs stop falling. In the current version of the play, for radiotheatre, we supress the last part, and we end solving the wars with their idea for end the conflict.
