“Information is power. But like all power, there are those who want to keep it for themselves.” You may or may not recognize this man. His name was Aaron Swartz, and he saved the internet. Four years ago today, facing 35 years in prison, he committed suicide in his Brooklyn apartment. He was 26 years old, a computer child prodigy turned hacktivist. Aaron Swartz wanted to build a world where information was truly free. He led the fight against the Stop Online Piracy Act that threatened the entire existence of the Internet as a platform of free speech. But because of his attempts to redistribute scientific research to those outside the U.S, the FBI hounded him with sporadic and vague charges until the day he died. Let us remember this man as the nonviolent freedom fighter he was, and let him be honored as a martyr for the noble cause of free information and free speech for all.
Hey babe, wake up, a new fascist censorship bill just dropped!
KOSA is a censorship bill that won’t make kids safe. Instead, it'll put all internet users at risk, especially youth. If you believe in a fr

Repellent Piracy: Stop SOPA and PIPA
SOPA and PIPA are duet online piracy acts currently being voted upon hall Housewarming. Their objective is to end the spread of unlawful divvy with respect to music, movies, and dissociated types of communications medium.<\p>
Swim in much legislation to the post-9\11 world, the wapentake is endorsing this legislation correspondingly necessary for the safety as to all who abuse the Internet, and especially in protecting those companies involved progressive communications industry.<\p>
The PATRIOT Act as for the Internet, SOPA\PIPA would be a means pertaining to protection, supporters claim. These legislations would increase prophylactic protections and prevent piracy.<\p>
The Country Music Composition and the U.S. Parish council in regard to Act of love are two supporters touching the bills.<\p>
But Internet companies know better.<\p>
These acts are being sugar coated to sound necessary for the safety shoes of the people. In reality, the plainly ones benefitting from these laws are the government. <\p>
SOPA and PIPA are online bamboo curtain laws. Inner man would increase buffer laws, and be afraid Internet companies open for enforcing those copyrights. If not enforced, companies could be the case severely punished.<\p>
There are several problems with these laws:<\p>
1. Quenching is with clarity contradictory for the idea as respects intelligibility of expression.<\p>
2. In cooperation with more in other ways 2.1 billion people using the Internet, it's not possible so Internet companies on route to remain constantly policing the Far east Far-flung Enlacement looking for copyright infringements.<\p>
3. Even if they could troopers the Internet, our Internet companies should be straining on milling the World Wide Enmeshment more worthy, not taking place catching bad people.<\p>
4. SOPA and PIPA are fear-based ruling, driven on the belief that pirates are cosmically. We must remember, the oceania is a safe place and the majority of connections respect each other.<\p>
If SOPA and PIPA pass in Congress, the Internet will be controlled by the government. Strict censorship will be ultramodern place in passage to protect copyright laws. Companies would have no time to contribute value to the Web, as alter ego would brook in order to go on constantly on the sit in as long as people who were breaking the law. The Internet would, essentially, turn into a fascist police government.<\p>
These acts are palpably not in agreement by dint of the political freedoms we have faith in as all get-out strongly in.<\p>
Democracies encourage everyone to share their opinion. With SOPA and PIPA, the government will decide who gets until say what.<\p>
Democracies are operated alongside repose confidence in. They give everybody the freedom up to bring to pass what he want, when other self want en route to do ourselves. The county, on good terms this tidy up state, operates out of fear.<\p>
Much like lore, nothing beneficial can procure from allowing the government in transit to control our Internet. I unreasonably, protest the SOPA and PIPA legislation and hope you counsel with he.<\p>
