So because of my time spent reading up on native plants for my tumblr series I was able to identify some seeds I collected while out in the grasslands this fall ! As soon as I saw the illustration of a stoneseed I remembered the odd little nut things I had collected. I guess that means Lithospermum ruderale is going to be part of my native plant garden for now on. Also interesting factoid. I guess its a traditional form of birth control amongst native people. When ingested it has some pretty crazy effects on estrogen. Another species in the genus is already being researched by a pharmaceutical company.
