“Easy for you to say.”, Lambda scoffs, rolling his eyes. 

Despite being a finely tuned war machine, Lambda was absolutely terrible when it came to physical activities. He wasn’t going to do anything that required him to be physical unless he absolutely needed to. Gym was always going to be a perpetual thorn in his side. That’s just how it was and how it was always going to be. 

And to think he wanted to try out of the casketball team once!

It wasn’t going to stop him from sleeping it off in math class. Sure, he’d get in trouble for it but it would be so worth it. Besides, if he got sent to detention, he’d just take a nap. 

Jackson approached the gorgon, a long poorly wrapped present with charred corners hidden poorly behind his back. “Hey, Deuce. Happy Birthday. Holt and I wanted to get you something, so here.”

Cuphead Show episode 2 starters (accepting)

“I dunno, man. If ya haven’t noticed, this is a fuckup we can’t fix!”, he exclaims as he gestures to the now totaled arcade machine. As much as he wanted to place the blame on a certain fire elemental that had tagged along with them, the blame also laid upon Lambda’s feet. 

He’d been stupid enough to take him up on a dare. First to three would have to cough up twenty dollars. Obviously, Lambda couldn’t lose! Unfortunately, the two had played so hard that it broke the machine they had been playing on somehow.

“Should I not have?”

Perhaps it wasn’t the best idea to hurl insults at a terrifying demon that could tear him apart in two seconds flat if it wanted to, but, but, he had a good reason for doing it. Probably. Maybe. Not really.

The demon certainly didn’t appreciate it, having already snarled at him once the insult left his mouth. And now there was a gigantic demon standing a few feet away from the pair, the sound of its angry growling filled the room and looking ready to attack at a moment’s notice.

Lambda jolted in his seat as his attention was pulled away from the video on his phone. He rubbed the knee he has banged on the underside of the table, cursing himself. He wasn’t expecting anyone to come over to his quiet little corner of the creepeteria.

In fact, he picked this table specifically to stay away from people! 

And yet, here stood someone. And not just any someone. He didn’t need to hide in the darkest parts of Monster High’s hallways, listening to the students whispering among themselves, to know that monster standing in front of him was kind of a big deal. Shock aside (as well as thanking his lucky stars that his mask covered his face.), he nods in approval before gesturing to the bench in front of him and turning back to his phone. All he wanted to do was get through lunch, go back to chowing down on his French fries, and pretend like Deuce wasn’t there. 

The cyborg’s eyes nearly popped out his head when he had seen Deuce had dragged the trunk full of supplies out of the car and had plonked it down onto the ground. 

“Oh shit, dude!”, he exclaims, rushing over to his camping companion and the trunk. “You didn’t need to pick that up! I would’ve gotten it!”

“Here.” Lambda says, gently moving Deuce aside. “Here, lemme grab that.” And as if to prove a point, he picks up the trunk like it was nothing. Brown eyes scan the terrain. A disappointed huff leaves him. Nothing about the camping spot Deuce had picked looked appealing.

A small birthday card with a tiny cartoon snake wearing a birthday hat was slipped into the gorgon’s locker during passing period.

Happy Birthday! I know we don’t talk often, but I couldn’t let the day go by  without letting my teammate know I was thinking about them. I hope you have a great birthday and I can’t wait to play with you again come the fall.
