#stolas redemption

So the actual Goddamn Point I’m getting at

Stolitz has self destructive patterns. Very hurtful ones.

And that is what accidentally kicks off both of their redemption arcs. 

Because neither of them was ever gonna address these individual self destructive behaviours alone.

But when they see how badly they’ve hurt each other, they start to.

Stolas is first to reflect that his behaviour is hurtful to Blitz. The transactional relationship could never have made them both happy long term. 

But there’s still a lot more stuff that’s wrong with his life that Stolas isn't trying to fight against or fix. He makes no moves to catch Stella for trying to kill him, defend himself from future threats, or even to get Via on his side.

Towards Blitz he sees that he’s being a jerk, but he’s not addressing the full scope of his own issues. He wants to not be alone (which is one part of the battle) but he still has so little self worth that he thinks fighting for himself against these threats is more trouble than he’s worth.

That Blitz’s love would be a bandaid that could fix his mental health issues. 

That telling Via about his problems was a burden to her and therefore unfair to tell her about it. 

BLITZ is actually the first one to allow his self destruction to make him realize- 

HE’S the problem in his life. 

Blitz hurts Stolas, and hates himself for it, and makes the choice to walk away because Stolas deserves to be with someone who isn’t a victim of his own self hatred that spills out and burns anyone around him.

Because he was both a HUGE GAPING ASSHOLE to Stolas & he knows he’s not different yet.

Even if he wants to be down the road. 

He has no idea how to change, so it is the healthy thing to leave Stolas alone. 

And it all goes back to a sad new normal.

Until Andrealphus' plots, and Blitz get caught.

And then the trial swings around and Stolas self-destructs on live TV for all of hell to witness. 

Blitz would be the first person to tell anyone that this is his fault and he’s got no excuse for it. There is an explanation for his behaviour, but there is not a defence.

So.

He overcorrects 

Hard

This is not the behaviour of a fixed Blitz.

ALL of those issues that fucked him up and broke Stolas’ heart are definitely still there. The self-hatred that justifies pushing people away? Just underneath the surface. 

But this is a first attempt at being a better demon. A first attempt at knowing what his reflex is and swimming against that current. He tries to be nice because that’s his first guess at what healthy looks like.

He’s guessing.

But because of Stolas he now recognizes he has to grow. That it’s not just consequences that’ll blow back on him if he tries to ignore it. 

Stolas is at the starting line of this as well.

Stolas doesn’t recognize that he has… choices.

He freezes up just picking what kind of wine.

And when he’s presented them he doesn’t know what to do with them. So when Via confronts him he’s startled at the thought it was a choice.

But it was.

It was just an unfair choice.

Make no mistake, he was set up to fail.

It’s only after the trial and his moment with Via that he starts to see the full depth of what making a real choice actually is,

I am a big Stolas fan. I identify so much with him, but it’s not fair to try to care about someone without letting myself see their flaws.

And Stolas, who has only just started to see choices doesn’t conceive that he can think ahead and choose what his own future looks like.

He could’ve tried to plot against Andrealphus, kept an eye on him for whatever his next move was and neutralize the threat. I doubt he even considered it. He could’ve had the horrible talk with Via about the real reason he wanted to divorce Stella.

He tried and failed with Via, and he couldn’t fathom that he could win against Andrealphus.

He did ask for the divorce from Stella.

He has started to grow. But even this was a response to Stella trying to provoke him.

He only makes choices in response to other peoples choices. He is a bystander in his own life and because 3/5 of the members of his family are self-serving monsters he’s been put through a shredder for funsies.

Wanting to change self destructive behavioural patterns, and actually changing those patterns are worlds apart from each other. They’re both at the start of an uphill battle. 

Here’s the part that gives me hope.

Blitz brings him into IMP.

Stolas’ self destruction depends on what the people around him want from him.

So what if all the group wants from him is for him to pick himself back up, to be happy with who he chose, and get his shit together?

This, could be the first time since Blitz where people in his orbit ask themselves what Stolas wants. And maybe the first time period a group asks what’s best for Stolas?

Are they shrinks? No. Do they have their own problems? Fuck Yes. But at this stage in the game they are very well versed in managing Blitz’s dysfunction.

Blitz is not fixed, Stolas is co-dependent.

Neither are done growing. 

There will be drama in their very immediate future. This will test Blitz’ commitment to trust his partner, and will test Stolas’s nerve to take ownership of his life.

Because now Stolas is in the disadvantaged position. 

Despite this, he is not alone.

As fucked up as they both are, that’s still progress.

Stolas responds to the people around him. Tries to be what they need but since he’s with IMP right now-

For the first time he has a community that can/will be kind back.

And I suspect someone else will offer their support as well.

Stolas is extraordinary intelligent, passionate ( often to a fault ) and has a very regal bearing

But Pre Reset Stolas is often high strung, manipulative, ruthless to enemies, extraodinarily vengeful, and basically a prison of vengeance

New Stolas finally drops the act and becomes gentler, kinder and wiser

He is essentially reparented into the new world by the Saints, IMP and the Hotel Crew

Because his old upbringing didnt even prepare him for the New World

But the staff who knew Via is the true heir to the New World helped Via prepare for it

And Via ends up being more equipped to rule the new world than Stolas is

For centuries the Goetias had visions of the ' Accursed Star ', one that will risk total annihilation of the 7 rings

They always thought it was going to be the DiGalaxis, or some other malvolent glitch in the matrix

It was STOLAS all along

And it took the Imp Revolution to FINALLY realize the truth of the prophecy that they feared

And that is when they finally dropped their crowns to save Stolas

And Stolas...is the last to figure out

He was once his own worst enemy

And rehab helped him become his own best friend

The other Goetias willingly dropped their crowns and pass the skies back to Heaven to save Stolas

It took Stolas to have a near world ending melt down and nature itself evicting him and deleting his old DNA, for him to finally let go of the skies that are crumbling him before he collapsed to a 3 week coma

There's a reason why the other Goetias passed Stolas and Via to the hotel

They eventually realized that the Hotel can take care of those 2 sensitive souls better than the old Goetia court canWhile Via and her cousins became true leaders of the new world

Their elders finally step back and focus on healing

The entire saga of the Ars Goetia divorce feud is a tragic cycle of generational trauma, vengeance, and brutality

It nearly ended the world

And it was the Imp Revolutionaries, Via and her cousins, Heaven and finally, Amethyst herself, that pulled a plug on it

The only way for the Goetias to defeat the DiGalaxis is to drop their crowns

And it took Stolas going into mad phase for the rest to finally realize what everyone has been trying to beg them to do - Let. The Skies. Go

When the Saints finally took the Moons, the skies are finally in balance

The weather cycles finally in place, harvest finally becomes more abundant, Hell's economy ( which crashed due to how bad the feud is ) is finally repaired, everyone else in Hell gets free therapy to heal from the generational trauma caused by the feud

And Stolas gets a hard drive reset

Without the crown or the Moons, Stolas is finally, truly happy

In truth, Stolas never needed the Moons. He only needs his truth

Old Stolas hated ANYBODY associated with Stella. He didnt care what background and context it is

But Via personally get to the ground level to empathize and get in touch with others....and bringing in new friends for Stolas so that he wouldn't be so lonely when he was juggling his old duties

Thats also why the people love Via so much

They already crowned her as their new Queen of the people even before the Great Reset happened

Via has a special empathy that Stolas suppressed long time ago

Deep down, Via eventually knew the truth - she was just confused by all the manipulation and skulduggery around her

And that is why she joined to help her cousins to discover the whole truth

And the files helped vindicate every suspicion she had

She also quietly supported the hotel because she knew it will be the one place where Stolas finally has a safe house he deservesAnd it was actually through Blitz's wild web of connections and Via's quiet web of support that Stolas finally has real friends outside of royal circles

Even Stolas' royal posse, as much as they like and respect him, are often terrified of him

Yet they still stood by him till the endVia and her cousins are lucky that they got the influence from the Orsinis and Schiaparellis, and that is why they turn out more ' Holy ' than their elders

They all have a copy of the Bible eachStolas has a file of the Enemy List - all filled with anyone associated with Stella in some form, with Stella on top of the list, signed in blood

No wonder IMP burned down his ' Burn Book ' and the Hotel crew helped reassamble his ' Friend List '

He nearly died because of hate

And he is rescued by the light of love and grace

IN A THERAPY SESSION

"IMP did a good thing burning this," she said. "The Vengeance King is dead, Stolas. He died in that three-week coma."

She then handed him a new, beautifully bound journal. On the cover, in elegant gold leaf, it read: The Circle of Grace.

To love a dragon is both a beautiful and terrifying thing

Dragons are ancient, primordial, seen empires rise and fall, hold vast celestial powers, love jewelry, and are feared and respected by many for centuries

The Schiaparellis can look into the eyes of Goetias and not blink

The Hamephorash and the Saints are the only 2 contigents that can subdue the dragons of Hell

And centuries later, IMP looked at Stolas dead in the eyes and saved the man underneath the flaming dragon scales

It took the Imp Revolution and Stolas' cosmic level extinction burst for the Goetias to finally realize what everyone else eventually caught on - Stolas is never meant to be a warrior and was trapped into a war he was never meant to be in

That was enough for the Goetias to finally give up their crowns and hand the skies back to Heaven, all to save Stolas

Via refused to be a warrior and opted to be a healer instead as a trauma response because she has personally seen her own father nearly die of deep vengeance.

Stolas' old lunar powers are a system error, his Green Thumb powers are the true correction

Stella is a cosmic glitch. Blitz and Via are cosmic corrections.

When Heaven finally subdued the dragons, the relief was universal
