sage trailed inside the apartment with the same cardboard box she used weekly to pick up fresh produce from her parents. it was a small, yet efficient, way to save money, and they were cutting corners where they could. making ends meet had been difficult some months, but more often since the breakup. sage tried to throw herself into her work, doubling the hours. leaving early and coming home extra late to avoid any confrontation. at least they reached the phase of separation where they could manage to converse without biting each otherās head off. it didnāt make it any easier, though, to live with her ex. especially knowing that she just wasnāt over them yet. how could she? every inch of their living space reminded sage of what once was, leaving her with a whirlwind of emotions.
