the first volume of yamaguchi-kun isnβt so bad was okay, it kinda struggled to pull me in. I think because the main character is a little bit nothing. all she really seems to think about is βoh wait this scary looking guy is nice. I want to know him betterβ and itβs like nothing else ever goes on in her head? I donβt personally care for her design that much either.
I do like that sheβs the pursuer though, itβs so often the guy in general and especially when itβs a more βroughβ looking guy like this one. but sheβs the one that keeps pushing things forward, and she gets to fluster him often, which is cute. on the other hand it kind of seems like itβs going to start sliding back the other direction as heβs starting to get jealous.
it is worth noting that the volume opens with a molester on the train being thwarted, nothing is shown and whether or not any contact was made is vague but the term is used repeatedly in the first chapter if you need a heads up for that.
Iβm torn on whether or not to give it another volume. I think maybe I should shelve it under βokayβ for now and just leave it at that, and I can always revisit it some other time. thereβs already plenty of other things Iβm more excited to read.
