It's truly a mistery. We don't know and the worst part is that he actually defended the countess of Oxford against Richard III, which make his latter support even weirder. Maybe he was thought as too close to Clarence, maybe he did completely unrelated corruption and mischiefs, maybe he was innocent and simply lost favors. We don't know, just like we do not know why he acted in such ways in 1483.

According to the only surviving copy we have, it doesn't. So it's possible someone else told Richard III. It's noteworthy that Henry VII didn't try to destroy Stillington when he usurped the throne and just jailed him temporarily. Maybe Stillington wasn't the only one claiming that, or maybe his affirmation was a bit meek, especially after Richard's death.
