God it is a fucking TRIP to see Shadow in this art syle
Also, okay, I thought that the creator of Spy vs. Spy must have died in like 2003 if that comic was done as a tribute to him, but no... he died in 1998... so then I’m like “oh, well maybe Archie just sat on this story for five years,” but no! Shadow’s in it! It couldn’t have been drawn earlier than 2001!! So what the hell was the point of this
So due to the incredibly rapid passage of time on this planet from Sonic’s perspective, this whole alien civilization just popped up around him and got to the point where they could invent a time decelerator in a matter of seconds
And because Sonic had been there in the pod for literally their entire history, they perceived him as their immortal god! They’ve covered their buildings in a blue Sonic symbol to worship him. In a matter of nanoseconds, literal wars were fought over whether or not Sonic was their god
This is all bananas? But in a fun way? It’s a really creative little “what if” sci-fi story. Bollers always seems to have the most fun on these comics when given total creative freedom. It’s the same reason why a lot of his early stories on the World Tour arc and shortly afterwards were solid. No forced game adaptations, no editor-mandated love triangles. Just him seeing what weird adventures he can come up with for Sonic and finding creative ways to toy around with comics as a medium. It’s too bad that things didn’t work out to allow Bollers to write more stories like this instead of love triangle drivel
