REMEMBERING SHEIKH NUR-I-DEEN DURKEE October 3, 1938 - September 13, 2020 Nur-I-Deen Durkee, formerly Steve Durkee, was a dear friend of Ram Dass, a friendship that extended over half a century through thick and thin. Artist, architect, Sheikh of rattle and roll and translator of mystic Islam, Nur was a co-founder of Lama Foundation and the artistic inspiration for BE HERE NOW. Β Over the years, going back to Millbrook and the USCO art commune, he and Ram Dass went through many deep collaborations and one or two confrontations. In the last year of both their lives they once again made loving contact. The Love Serve Remember family extends our love to Nurβs family and the many Lama Beans who were part of it.
