I Can Control Myself Just Fine, Fuck You Very Much

I'm pretty sure that a lot of you guys heard about the Steubenville High School Rape Case, and if you know anything about me, or have at least paid any attention to my blog up to this point, you should know where I stand in this issue. If not, well look at Willy Wonka up there. Well anyway, when hearing about the case, I couldn't help (despite my better judgement) but listen to and read the comments of anyone defending Richmond and Mays. One common thing I've heard amongst them is that 'Jane Doe' is just as responsible/more responsible than Richard and Mays for the incident. Reasons for this is that she's at a party, she's wearing a tight shirt and short shorts, and she was drinking alcohol. In other words, they might as well say that she deserved to be raped because she was, well you know, just there.
From the link I just gave you guys, one person was pretty much put all the blame on her, saying that she led them to that situation, and they couldn't help it because of their natural hormones. Hell, even CNN was pretty much sympathizing with those two, but then again, CNN just HAS TO BE Stupid Neutral with every fucking thing.
I can rant to you about this whole 'Blame the Victim' bullshit, but I'm pretty sure that other people with a better grip on that subject has covered it already. Besides, you know my stance on this, and if not, Willy Wonka's still there. I just want to add one thing that may or may not have been discussed, and yes, once again, just like the last blog, it's fucking personal.
As a man, I am fucking offended with the bullshit sympathy that Richmond and Mays are receiving, and let me explain how and why.
Let me ask you guys one thing. If someone went up to you, and told you that if you raped a woman, it's not your fault because you just can't help yourself, how would you feel? Personally, I would feel offended and patronized, and I would tell that person to go fuck the vertical surface of a steep cliff.
This is the message that these rape sympathizers, and to some extent, the media, is sending.
(Side note: When I say 'rape', I am not referring to those 'He Said, She Said' scenarios where the woman supposedly lied or something. Yes, I know that women have the potential to lie about this stuff; I've read To Kill a Mockingbird, and I've seen the news. Obviously, this is not what happened in this case. For fuck's sake those two invoked Rape Me by Nirvana. We are talking about the shit Tong Po pulled in Kickboxer. In addition, yes, I do know that women are just as capable in raping men. Again, I've read news articles on this, so if you're going bring this up as some kind of rebuttal, then please save it. I would like to continue in covering all of my bases, but it's fucking past 1 at night, and I want some sleep gawddamnit.)
Anyway, as a man, I don't fucking need help. I'm not gonna go all rape crazy if I'm at a close proximity with a girl. I don't need to take anti-rape pills or fucking whatever. Seriously, there's no need to worry if I can control myself or not, because it's not even a fucking issue. In all my life, I've never felt the need to go out there and rape anyone, and I'm positive that your regular average joe is exactly the same way. I'll say this right now; yes, I do check out women. Sometimes, I gawk and stare at them like a blithering idiot. Yes, thoughts like ,"She's hot', or even, "Yea, I'd hit that (consensually)," has crossed my mind, but never have I thought," She sure is hot. I sure would LOVE to rape her!" It's just not in our fucking nature.
Seriously, this attitude needs to stop. Hell, from everything I've learned about the subject, I know that rape isn't even about sex!
When I was in high school, my teacher had a special presentation. He brought in a personal friend of his to discuss about the topic of rape. She was part of this program that I can't recall, and she has been a victim of rape. One thing she said that remained with me was," Rape is not about sex. It's about power. It's about one person having the need to dominate another. Sex is natural. Rape is not"
This is the problem we have with society when it comes to the topic of rape. For some reason, our society has it engraved that rape is about sex. This is why you have people and the media sympathize with rapists and try make excuses for them. This is why you always hear stories about how some kid got suspended because he was playing doctor, or he was hugging his teacher, or whatever. This is why you have 'white knights' and 'straw feminists' demonizing sex whatever chance they get. As long as our society holds this idea that rape is about sex and not power, we're going to keep following this dark road, and that sure as hell isn't a road you want to take.
