Upstairs Neighbor || Ariel & Graham
It was one of the few rare nights she opted to stay home, her usual plans to go out with her castmates sounding less appealing as the day wore on and wore her down. Instead, she gathered her mug of coffee, a bowl of fruit, a book, and blanket, and made her way to her kitchen window, piling her belongings on the counter before she climbed on top and crawled out to the fire escape. Crouching low, she reached back into the kitchen, pulling out her belongings and laying them out carefully around her. Satisfied, she sat back against the escape's railing, settling in for a bit of light reading.

Are you done yet I'm grinning like an idiot at those comments and dad's convinced I have a boyfriend and I don't want to tell him So I ask ARE YOU DONE
Untitled track [drabble]
[The more I think, the less I see When Iâm able to walk, Iâm queen of my world I let it rain on my skin I donât let myself down, donât let myself down. I wanna be one with you, wanna be one with you].
The words are scribbled in bleary letters on your notebook, and you canât really read them unless you squint your eyes so much it huts â but it doesnât matter, since you know them by heart now. Itâs like theyâre written everywhere, painted in neon lights over the dirty surface of the city, so bright you canât ignore them â not like you do with anything else. Theyâve come to you in a blur, just nights ago, inspired by the empty bottle of Jackâs you had been nursing as devotedly as a mother, and you werenât even thinking about him, while you wrote the same sentence over and over, obsessively. It was only the morning after that you realized it was about him, and even then you decided to ignore the truth because it was somewhat easier than accepting you actually cared about somebody other than yourself. And now youâre there, in the corner of a filthy pub, just like every other night â yet tonight youâre scared, and it shows in your voice, on the way your fingers hesitate upon the keys, on the beer youâve barely touched, and on the sigh that leaves your mouth before that pleading, chanting chorus.
[All I want is to rock your soul, all I want is to rock your soul].
Thereâs a reason why you havenât given in to iPods and mp3 players and all that shit, and thatâs because, despite everything, youâre actually the sentimental type and youâre too fond of CDs to just give them up. You like to know how many tracks there are, you like to know whatâs coming next. You like to be in control. Youâre your own CD, and know exactly how many tracks are left on your discography. Or at least, you thought you knew â because lately youâve been stuck on the same track, over and over again, a broken record that wonât ever start again. And you have no idea how to fix it, how to gain back control â all you can do is pray it will end at some point. One way, or the other. Or maybe you could play along, learn the foreign language of his music, sing to him just like youâre singing to yourself, and maybe you wouldnât sound so frightened. Maybe you could even smile, Â for once.
[I think that I have to give you something more than words is that something? So I show you my dreams to make âem your dreams wonât you just be? Iâm what you see].
Morgan Andersen never cries. Thatâs a fact everybodyâs aware of. But very few people know that you actually do cry, a lot, and your tears are gentle notes like those that keep flowing out of your fingers, sharp as bullets and light as snowflakes, and somehow you canât stop â once again, youâve lost control. The stormâs taking over and youâre adrift â you could really use an anchor right now, but not just any anchor. Your anchorâs got brown eyes and a scruff that tickles you when heâs near, an irish accent and a heavy heart you wish you could carry on your own â but what if you drown?
The song ends abruptly, a false note and youâre sitting still, staring at the piano and wondering if getting drunk until you pass out again would be a smart move. Nobody seems to have noticed, anyway â itâs too late for anyone to care about your skills, and youâre too exhausted to tell them to fuck off. So you might as well just go home. Gather all your stuff, all your songs and things you should have said, and run home to find that bottle of Jackâs and fill it up with something stronger. If you thought singing would chase those feelings away, now you see youâve been fooling yourself. So itâs really not that different from any other night. Â Except that, for the first time, you have an actual weakness and youâre not sure youâre ready to be destroyed. Yet.
"Why?" I asked him tiredly. "What would it have changed? What could you possibly have said that would have made a difference?" "That I was your brother," he said. "That I loved you. That I knew a few things about denying the dark parts of your nature. And that we would get through it." He put his elbows on his knees and rested his forehead in his hands. "That we'd figure it out. That you weren't alone." Stab. Twist.
