Here are the pair of mons I redrew last month that are based on a pepper’s ability to make capsaicin and another based on a mint’s ability to make menthol.

Plants make these kind of chemicals to deter some species from eating the plant too much; however, to larger animals, these chemicals might not be enough but would still leave a certain taste. Capsaicin from peppers fit in the heat receptor of many animals, making them feel hot while mints’ menthol fit into cold receptors. Even though the temperature hasn’t changed, these chemicals can make some animals feel hot or cold.

Capsol (Grass/Fire): Some recipes use Capsols’ chemicals to warm the consumer of the dish even in the coldest of days. Most do not disturb Capsols because the chemicals they spit can create a burning feel even when it is not hot.

I redid my Prince Rupert's Drop mon to also loosely reference the barreleye fish which has eyes deep inside of its translucent head.

The Prince Rupert’s Drop is a formation of glass that has a bulletproof head but a weak tail that shatters the whole drop instantly. The formation is made by rapidly cooling molten glass, creating a very tense object but the tension is what makes the front of the drop so strong.

I always wanted to do a line based on simple machines, so I revisited the concept with scorpions in mind. I might come back one day to redraw the last stage, even if I don't redesign it too much.

Simple machines can change the direction or strength of a force. Of the 6 established machines, there is the inclined plane which is basically a ramp. The inclination of the ground (a plane in math refers to a 2D space) helps redirect horizontal force into some vertical force as well, lifting an object. The wedge is another simple machine but it functions like an inclined plane that can move. Wedges are like axes which move forwards to move incoming material towards the sides. The screw is another simple machine that rotates to move forward or backward. Screws are like the side of an inclined plane (triangle) wrapped around a pole.

Rampling (Steel/Ground): They are designed to scuttle forwards quickly even if they are underground as the ground is lifted up and over the body. When in danger, Ramplings can use their tail like a lever to throw some dirt at their opponent.

Araxenid (Steel/Ground): One can see the top of an Araxenid's armor cutting through the ground as they run just below the surface. Araxenid's claws allow them to dig into the ground of their natural habitat and sneak up on their prey.

Here are my own fakemon starters of my STEM-based region in this Android emoji-like style though I'm starting to kind of making my own style out of it.

Here’s a redraw of my other fossil mon.

The Hallucigenia fossil is known to be one of the weirded looking fossils dating back to the Cambrian period. Recently, the understanding of the fossil has been literally flipped upside down as the spines in the fossil are now thought to be on the back instead of used as legs and the head was declared to be on the other side of the side that was initially thought of.

This design also shares aspects from the old Flowerbox Windows Screensaver. Screensavers were used to occupy an idle screen, when CRTs were used, so that the idle image does not burn into the CRT screen. Once LCDs were used, this was no longer necessary.

Tripirt (Rock/Psychic): Tripirts have confused and tricked researchers for the longest time as the face on their tail was mistaken as their real face. Tripirts can use all of their spines for walking, so they can still run away even when they are flipped over.

Larving (Bug): The marking on their neck can change shape between a circle and a "1" which they use to quietly communicate. They can move their segments around to bunch them up or to spread them out in a line.

Compupa (Bug/Electric): Compupas are popular classroom pets as they are relatively low maintenance and pretty quiet unless provoked. Larvings make a opaque screen to hide themselves as Compupae, but their face glows through from within.

Here's a new line based on electromagnets, namely the solenoid and toroid. The magnetic field runs perpendicularly to electric currents and is generated by an electric current. In a solenoid, electric current is wrapped around a pole forming a magnetic field like that of a bar magnet. In a toroid, wire is wrapped around a doughnut loop. This configuration makes the magnetic field run around inside the loop but cancels out the magnetic field outside.

Solenite (Steel/Electric): There is an invisible force that surrounds the cone of Solenites that protects them from the debris they face in their habitat. Solenites can blink to change their pupils, indicating that the pull from their magnetic body is now reversed.
