Movie Analysis:Β The Sixth Sense
The movie is about a little boy named Cole, he has this unique ability or the "sixth sense. He can see and talk to ghost. However, due to his unique condition, people thinks of him as a freak who has a serious mental condition. Then a child psychologist came and approached the little boy. He earned the boy's trust thus giving him the privilege of hearing the boy's secret. "I can see dead people", Cole said. The doctor was confused because it was the first time he heard of it. At the end of the movie, the doctor appeared to be dead but the child did not know. According to Marshall McLuhan "the medium is the message", I think that it's not the words that are being said is the thing that is important, but the way the message is being told or what the sender wants you to realize. The doctor still communicated with him just like a normal person, thus the young boy did not realize that he is already dead.
"Sixth Sense" a Movie Analysis The "Sixth Sense" movie is about a little boy, named Cole Sear, having the 'sixth sense' or simply he can see and communicate with ghosts or dead people. People, especially those in his school, thinks of him as a freak. They think that this child has a serious mental condition. I cannot blame them for seeing him as someone with mental illness, because at the first part of the movie the child seemed to creep me out already. As someone who was already familiar with the term "sixth sense", you'll already expect ghosts, dead people and other scary things. Then there came a child psychologist approaching the little boy. He is different among all the other doctors he's had which had made him earn the young guy's trust. It wasn't that fast and easy trying to earn this child's trust. It took him much effort and patience. All those hard works have been payed off when the boy finally decided to tell his secret. "I see dead people," he said. The doctor seemed to be confused and tried really hard to believe him. As someone who hadn't seen ghosts ever before, it is hard to believe someone saying things such that, especially that it is a child who said those things. At the end of the movie, the doctor appeared to be dead, a ghost. The fact that the child wasn't aware that he is a ghost or maybe he is but the child is not being afraid was really astonishing. But since according to Marshall McLuhan "the medium is the message", it is not the words that are being used are what's important, but how the message is being told. The doctor communicated like a normal and alive person, he did not do and say things that could scare this young guy resulting to a late realization of this character that he is already dead. Also the people not believing the child is because it is a child who is talking and what if those are just one of his creative imaginations and his condition seemed like he is suffering a mental illness and sudden panic all the time which made him more unbelievable.
