All my elementary, middle school, and first two years of high school I was a high A/B honor roll student. I'm in my junior year now and wanted to make sure I got into my top college, so I took a lot of advanced and AP classes. I got a C in Calculus and AP Physics and I can't seem to get over it. I know second semester is a new start but I feel like everything I've worked towards is useless now, I just can't get it out of my head. Am I being dramatic? :(
Absolutely not, it’s perfectly reasonable to be upset by that. You’re used to achieving high marks and it feels like a c is a failure. That’s common and it’s okay.
AP classes are hard, and a C is perfectly good. You did your best and I’m proud of you. The main point of AP classes is so that colleges can see that you’re willing to put in extra work at an accelerated pace. The grades are an after thought. But there’s still another semester to go, yes? That’s time to push it higher. More importantly, that AP test is waiting up ahead. If you pass it, that’s even more impressive than it would be if you just got an A, yeah?
It’ll be alright. You can keep going, and if you need to, you can always redo a class in place of an elective, if you have that space.
