I’ve realized I am not really a fan of most printmaking media - I dislike the lack of control you have through it. Printmaking is just an exercise in waiting for something to slip or irreversibly smudge and this drives me up the wall. As such, I was really impressed with Ebner’s OPEN LATE collection because I can now better appreciate how much effort and precision must have been put into each print to be able to mimic LED signs so well. I also like the additional touches of some of the signs having “dead pixels” in them, adding authenticity to the effect. The moments of the sign changes are also really well chosen, so if you go to her website and fast click through the collection, the individual prints flow really fairly nicely, similar to a flip book.
