UNCOMMON QUESTIONS FOR OCS AND THEIR CREATORS
3. How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)
Verdandir spends A LOT of her personal time when not traveling/healing in books, both to try and learn written languages(spoken ones are EASY) but also because it’s a way to learn more about Landlord societies, histories and ways. So she’ll read herself to sleep often enough, waking up with the book on the ground or still open and fallen onto her from when she finally passed out. She does enjoy singing, but that is often used more for others than herself.
23. How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what they want, they become resentful, etc)?
Verdandir has rarely become envious of material things, since until just recently as a Dravanian she honestly did not have NEED of them. However she has envied others for their views, their abilities and how they have lived their life. She will often sit and stew about it, thinking herself in circles chasing down the reasons for her feelings and trying to sort them out so she can continue on as she feels she is supposed to. This can lead to her feeling resentment against both the other person but also trying to figure out how to incorporate whatever it is she wants into her own life somehow, or trying to stamp down the desire for it if she acknowledges she can’t get it. She might envy someone who does not feel the need to be a total pacifist like she is, giving them far more options in dealing with situations or less guilty/worry about what goes on around them, or that someone is able to easily do a skill she can not. In the former, she might resent the person for a time and have to carefully weigh her personal beliefs against the pang of envy another lifestyle presents her, while the latter can lead to a far healthier approach because it isn’t so much someone having or doing something that goes against her nature and beliefs, but simply knowing something she doesn’t and she can ask to learn it. This way she can at least address the feelings head on and put them aside properly.
34. How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt?
Depends on the type of guilt and where it came from. Initial guilt of any kind will weigh heavily on her, as someone who is deeply empathetic and in-tune with their/other’s emotions. But she can logic through a good many things that would be ‘small guilts’ if given the time and chance to do so. She tries very hard not to ‘wallow’ in guilt, but adapting to being around others when dealing with her feelings is a new thing for her. She tended to be reclusive growing up and had ample time alone to work through her issues. Things that are ‘larger guilts’ can stay with her for years, sitting in the back of her mind and occasionally reaching forward to sharply remind her of whatever it was that caused it. She can get lost in those feelings for awhile until she’s able to push them back and continue on as before. She rarely, if ever, talks to others willingly about her guilty feelings unless pushed to or absolutely necessary.
