@steeleidolon asked: Junon
Send a word or the name of a place, and the mun will write out a scene from their muse’s memories of that word or place.
Elena was never the most fond of Junon. It reminded her very much of Midgar, but smaller and sadder. Midgar was nowhere near the sea, so it was easier to forget about the pollution that seeped down and affected the people in the slums. In Junon, if one looked close enough, they could see the rainbow swirls of oil that created a bubbling film of gunk just off the coast. The smell of dead fish permeated the noses of anyone who got too close to the slums. Even in the upper levels of Junon, the decay of the shores was hard to ignore. At least in Midgar the slums were mostly out of sight, out of mind.
Maybe that made Elena a terrible person, but she had lived a good portion of her adult life in the slums. It was better not to think about those things anymore. Besides, she was a Turk now. There was already a place in hell reserved just for her; what would a little bit of apathy add?
No, Junon was not Elena’s favorite place. She had only been to the city once before, while on a field trip with the Shin-Ra Academy. Something about touring their specialized military bases. She couldn’t remember all the details, but she could remember that visit cementing her admiration for Shin-Ra and her desire to join their military ranks one way or another. Strange how she was back here as part of Shin-Ra’s elite forces after so long of despising the company... She must be the biggest hypocrite in the world.
But none of her anger toward Shin-Ra mattered much anymore. She was in Junon now to celebrate the beginnings of a new age for Shin-Ra. There was some profound symbolism to be found in the company’s new leadership. Rufus Shinra’s reign was a marker of the changes happening in her own life. Things were different than they had been. Surely, Rufus understood that, too. Aside from a few formal interactions, she hadn’t had much opportunity to speak with the new president; there was far too much chaos between her employment and the start of this parade. Still, she believed she and Rufus were feeling similar emotions at this moment. There were endless possibilities ahead that didn’t exist when his father was heading the company.
So many opportunities lay ahead for her, now, too. She was determined to make the most of them. She would outshine her sister’s legacy and she would rebuild her life to be how she had always intended it. Maybe Junon was not her favorite place, but the newly found kinship between Rufus and Elena that Elena had fabricated in her mind allowed her to set her determination in stone. At first, Elena didn’t understand the reasoning for such a garish and flashy parade, but strangely enough, watching it gave her some hope for her future.
