hate to break it to you, but even if you add a handful of new sentences to a stolen fic, it's still plagiarism, sweetie.
good afternoon everyone! ♡︎
id like to use my platform this afternoon to walk you through how i, and many others, typically write a fic!
it starts with an idea! we can spend hours dreaming up a plot, thinking of the right words to use, imagining it in our heads, bouncing the ideas off our friends to see if they’re worthy of the time it takes to write a fic.
then we gotta get it to paper. this takes TIME. depending on how vividly we see the idea in our heads, how much time we have to sit at our computers, and whether or not we get distracted with irl things—uni, mental health, work, family matters— this can take days, or even weeks!
then we edit. i read my fics so many times that the words bleed together, and make so many changes that sometimes i have to rewrite whole segments because i don’t like how im seeing it in my head as i read it. everyone’s different, but editing is hard.
sometimes we share it for others to look over. timezones can be a bitch, too, so with this one it can take up to a couple of days to get feedback from a beta reader, or a friend who’s opinion you so desperately desire bc if you’re anything like me, you think your fics are dumb without the validation.
then we agonise. we make headers, think of possible triggers, the layout of the post, how to tag the story, whether or not we even want to post it because is it even that good to share???
so please remember this: we put so, so much into writing what we write. we pour our souls into our work, tear ourselves to shreds over it, stay up late when we know we need sleep, because it’s what we’re passionate about. and then we share it with you guys.
please, please, please don’t steal our work.
if you want to be a writer, you have all the tools in your noggin’ to do it yourself. ive even spelt it out for you, step-by-step.
Theft IS Wrong
Guys, listen to me when I say this. Writers work so fucking hard for their followers to enjoy the works that they make and STEALING is the lowest of the low. This is the SECOND time now I have to write a post about this because people are so cruel. It is in NO right form that people steal others hard work.
People need to UNDERSTAND that when you do steal a work that has already been copyrighted YOU CAN BE SUED. I can sue @bangtanmaryy right now for even stealing my book because of what she has done.
Theft is not right and will never be okay. We work hard to make everyone happy and on days like today when I wake up to a plagiarizer and theft it’s with a heavy heart. I am not going to sue her, but theft just isn’t okay and I will be holding my works closer to my heart from now on.
Please give writers credit and respect for what we do. Please always alert us when horrible things like this do happen. We love and appreciate every single one of our followers and readers. And, this should never EVER happen to anyone.
This is where my story and MANY others were found: https://www.wattpad.com/user/bangtan_maryy and I link it with a heavy heart because I shouldn’t have to do this. If there are other writers that follow me, please check if yours is there.
I was even asked by the same user if they could another story I’ve written and I told them no so they stole The Bird Cage.
I shouldn't have to start my day off crying and shaking because someone was too inconsiderate to think about other peoples feelings. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

I imagine Chan being like that. I mean, I keep all my important files (aka my memes and my fanfictions) on a seperate USB stick...
