kind of funny how wuxian is introduced to us as someone who basically kidnaps xiaohei when really he gives a lot of autonomy to his students. for one i love how it’s luye and xiaohei who initiate the teacher-student relationship with wuxian. plus how both times it catches him off guard: he didn’t expect luye to show up at his house and he didn’t expect xiaohei to ask to stay with him. and i love how he gives luye the space she asserts for herself even as he watches over her, both when she’s a child and an adult. and how he and by extension the movie tells xiaohei that whether fengxi is a good or a bad person is something he can decide for himself. and how when luye leaves just as abruptly as she entered his life he accepts this seemingly quietly because that’s what she needed to do then but you can still see him turn to watch her as she passes by him at the guild hall. even in loh1 when he insists on taking xiaohei to see the guild hall, he tells xiaohei he can leave if he truly desires to. his insistence really just has to do with the fact that xiaohei is six and knows so little about the world and other spirits lol. but yes he is. endlessly patient

i do appreciate how in nezha 2 he has loving parents. particularly the part where nezha’s trying to sacrifice himself for them and his mom steps in and explicitly says what kind of parent would ask a child to sacrifice himself for them when it’s the parents who should be protecting their children

i admittedly have a weak grasp of the worldbuilding given that i haven’t read most of lanxi zhen but something i haven’t gotten straight is if nezha is a spirit and spirits don’t have parents, then what does his backstory look like
