The scene above takes place near the beginning of the film. I’m assuming Rey and the group get sent out to investigate and find the remains of the Death Star/encounter an evil presence (palpatine), and report back to Leia. So obviously Rey and Kylo are most likely going to still have their Force Bond, so Rey contacts him and explains the situation and tells him that they need his help and they all have to work together to defeat the “greater evil” (as JJ termed it in the Episode IX panel).

Yup, we definitely see here that Kylo, with Stormtroopers at his side, are engaged in battle. The guy he’s knocking down definitely resembles the “Knight of Ren” character in the force vision. Noteably, he’s not USING his lightsaber, or at least, the dangerous part of it. So he’s not trying to kill people (interesting). It looks like a forest planet, which I don’t think we saw in other parts of the trailer, but I’m assuming he’s fighting through Hux’s troops to get to Rey (which I’ve seen a few other people on Tumblr theorizing). This would occur because he knows she needs help and he’s fighting to get to her. The stormtroopers may not know what’s happening, but he’s the Supreme Leader so they’re following orders.

THIS scene is when Rey, Poe, and Finn first come face to face with Kylo when he arrives to help them. Rey is obviously going to have her lightsaber out because she’s a lil suspicious considering the fact that they’re not completely sure they can trust Kylo yet.

Then they go to the desert planet (Tattooine? Jakku? I don’t recall either of them having particularly mountainous terrain so it could be a new desert planet altogether). And this scene is when Rey and Kylo begin training together to fight the emperor. She’s jumping onto his ship, lightsaber ignited, either to fight a common enemy or to practice the maneuver for when they’re in a real battle.

Could this be the same planet that we see in Rey’s force vision in TFA, when Kylo saves her from the Knight of Ren? Probably not, but just a thought.

Now I didn’t notice this at first, but many people have mentioned that it isn’t actually KYLO repair g his mask, it’s some type of alien creature. I’ve seen even more people point out that the First Order (as far as we’ve seen) only has humans in its ranks. My theory is that maybe they repair the helmet for him to mask his identity? Yes, the rest of the resistance probably wouldn’t react well to seeing Kylo Ren amongst them, but maybe Leia doesn’t want everyone to know yet that he’s her son? Either way, they fix his mask most likely to hide his identity in my opinion (feel free to disagree or add on).
