So I've been teaching people IRL how to play Dungeons and Dragons 5e for around 4 years now, and I've finally decided to start hosting online classes through startplaying.games! If you want a face-to-face (well, discord video call) meeting with an experienced player who can help you get started, you're in the right place!

Why learn to play with me?

I have a lot of experience teaching people of all experience levels, including no experience!

You don't need any materials, except a device to access the class, a discord account, and an account on startplaying.games! I provide everything for you (including a bunch of cheat-sheets and handouts for making the whole process easier).

Learn how to make a character! A lot of introductions to D&D start you with a pre-generated character, and while there's nothing wrong with that, it means you have to figure that part out on your own later. Since I think making your own character is part of the fun, I'll walk you through the whole process and teach you important mechanics along the way, making jumping into a game much easier!

Get one-on-one help and immediately have questions answered by a friendly, patient, and queer-inclusive DM! Classes are held through discord as a small group and are not pre-recorded.

Get introduced to the game in a safe, low-pressure environment with no pressure to do anything you're not ready for. Not ready to jump into roleplay immediately? No problem! Worried you'll have a hard time picking up mechanics? No sweat! I'm ready to work with you and help however I can.

It's something I've been wanting to get into for a while (partially just as an excuse to play more games) and I've finally pulled the trigger. With everything going on in the world, I could use the extra income to help fund the podcast and keep our editors paid.

Even more than that, I'm excited to meet more people and help spread my love of indie TTRPGs with them. From weird horror to tense political intrigue to intimate coming of age dramas, we are going to tell some amazing stories together.

A new adventure through the untamed world of Vanaheim, this tale will take you from a humble backwoods settlement to the brightest lights of the Feywild and the darkest depths of the Shadowfell. With engaging NPC's, long forgotten mysteries, and a plethora of never before seen creatures, this adventure has something new for all kinds of players to sink their teeth into. And all the while, you're being hunted by... something.

This will be a paid play-by-post game for players 18+ hosted over Discord, using DnDBeyond for character sheets and maps. Content sharing is provided, and content from most any source is allowed. Detailed character creation rules and restrictions will be provided upon acceptance, as will a short list of quality-of-play house rules. Up to 6 players will be accepted, and the game needs at least 4 in order to run. The fee for this game is $5 per week.

Mx. Wellman is running a Curse of Strahd campaign for Dungeons and Dragons 5E, and you're invited! This adventure is a romp through the always-misty, horror-trope-infested valley of Barovia in search of the moody master of the land, Lord Strahd Von Zarovich.

Kicking off Friday nights on February 28th!

For twenty years, the dread lord, Strahd von Zarovich, slumbered in his coffin. Still, the Mists have not lifted during those twenty years, ushering in an uneasy peace throughout Barovia. Ireena Kolyana has, in that time, buried her father, buried her brother, wed, borne a son, and served as Barovia Village’s burgomaster faithfully. However, unrest struck the land during this last year. Strahd, awake and hungering for blood, has decimated Ireena’s sense of security. Ireena fears for her son, Ismark, who is eighteen and determined to fight the Devil Strahd. Your party represents her last hope to usher him to safety, as Strahd’s attacks have become more violent and personal in recent months. She prays you can take him to Vallaki and keep him safe. Maybe you can even get him out of the Mists.

Ismark is not convinced this strategy will work. No one leaves the Mists except the Vistani. Besides, the Devil Strahd has been killed before, even if only for a little while. Perhaps there is a way to kill him once and for all. His mother thinks she hides it well, but he has heard her cry out in the night. Ismark knows that if something isn’t done to defeat this great evil, Strahd will claim Ireena as his undead bride. Perhaps you can take her to Vallaki or, better yet, join Ismark on his crusade to defend his family and country from the evil that thirsts for their blood.

“Curse of Strahd: The Cycle of Fate” is a campaign intended for intermediate-level players, especially those who have played “Curse of Strahd” before and want to play it again with a twist. However, you are not required to have any knowledge of “Curse of Strahd” to play. Together, we will explore themes of cyclical tragedy, generational trauma, Gothic horror, and, of course, all the lush, dark promises a vampire-centric campaign can offer!
