I really wonder if he was written with OCD in mind, even if he wasn’t it’s still so easy to resonate with him as someone who has struggled with it for most of my life.

he seems to show a lot of moral OCD struggles. I have a lot of experience with it and having suicidal thoughts as a way of punishing yourself for small failures is very common. Especially with how he thinks it’s his fault for “tricking himself”, often OCD causes you to have very illogical thinking paths as a way to force your OCD thoughts to “make sense” and convince you you’re evil in some way.

I find that the way Blue interacts with Yellow as well is a good representation of one of the ways how people can go about helping their partner with Pure O thoughts. (Coming from how my partner is with me and my OCD)

Instead of going along with the punishments that would satisfy Yellow’s OCD thoughts he (very gently) combats the logic of his thinking. As well as placing his roses in the guns to gently nudge Yellow out of harmful behaviors.

OCD is also frequently comorbid with autism, which fits a lot into Yellow’s focus on justice (besides the fact he represents the Yellow soul).

With the strong sense of justice and need to make things right from his autism alongside his moral OCD thoughts and behaviors it makes for a bit of a harmful combo. It can also explain why he is so easily swayed, his overall lack of social understanding makes him only see the good in others. Even if they are so obviously lying to his face.
