Phoenix was walking through the carnival, trying to take in the sights and see if she could find anyone she recognized. She had already said hi to a few people from high school or college, but sadly none had been free to go on rides with her, and Griffin had long disappeared. The tilt a whirl had caught her eye, and there was also a Funhouse that supposedly had a ghost. She wasn’t sure if ghosts were real, but she definitely wanted to find one. She wondered if she couldn’t read their minds in the same way that she couldn’t read vampires’, considering both were dead.
She saw someone run by, weaving through the crowd. “Hey, Preston!” she called out to her friend, but he kept going. Well, that’s disappointing, but he seemed in a hurry. Maybe she should call her brother. She continued walking, and not five minutes later, she found Preston walking chilly in the other direction. “Hey Preston,” she said, this time catching his attention. “Where were you just going in a hurry?” She looked around, considering the layout of the park. It would have been really hard for him to make it back around, and he didn’t seem out of breath.Â
