                  ☆ for once, their meal is not a competition. lee hasn’t demanded they finish their bowl of ramen as quickly as possible to prove who’s stomach is the strongest, but rather they sit side-by-side and share a meal in the company of one another. he’s been gone awhile - konoha’s military liasion between the allied shinobi forces will do that to you - and he’s glad to be back home.

float’s cool, but practicing float can be boring. the good thing is his relative inaction lets him watch more, and watching his classmates practice inspires that sense of awe nestled right in his gut. midoriya grins at kaminari, his teeth showing as his smile reaches his eyes. he moves back to the ground from where he’d been gently hovering, stepping into a stride.      “that’s awesome! are you planning a super move?  —”     he doesn’t even seem to think about it as he moves towards where his bag is set to the side and pulls out a notebook and starts jotting something down.

          “ you’re kinda small. i ain’t mean it in a bad way, y’know? you’re taller’n me --- but it ain’t gon’ hurt you to lean into your speed. “       there’s a grin from behind his mask.   it carries only in the crinkle at the corner of his eyes.

        taller is putting it mildly. kanshouku’s downright little   ( he’s lithe though, a stiff wind might threaten to blow him over but he’d swallow it whole if it tried. )     and he still manages to hold a room. he shifts his body from a stand into a more braced position, arms raised.     “ if you can control when you get into close quarters that’ll be best, y’know ? maybe you’ll bulk out and dominate this sorta thing, but for now ? ”       that same grin reaches nearly feral, the unnatural stretch of his mouth pushing his cheekbones higher than they should be.

           “ hey !   you alright ? ”    the young hero stops short of the tall, thin man.  the villain had come close before being subdued   ( a polite way to say eaten )  and kanshouku was working his way back, making sure that no one had gotten hurt during his pursuit.  there’s rubble around where the villain had been picking up hunks of the road and throwing them, but he’d had it pretty well handled.
